Hi Pascal! I have one question: To land your, let's say, left skate in a "closed position", do you feel like your hip is slightly open towards the right? As in the left side of your hip is slightly forward and the right side is somewhat to the back? I feel like it's hard to land it in a closed position if my hips are looking straight ahead.
@ThePascalbriand2 ай бұрын
Hi. Hip should be doing a inside rotation. So yes if we speak the same way left hip look like to the right (inside)

@@ThePascalbriand Thank you! Yes, that's exactly what I meant. I really wasn't sure if I was supposed to do that, it just felt right. I'm used to skating on a shorter 4x80 frame and it's so much easier to double push on those than on my new 4x110 speedskates. And the whole speedskating technique is overall so much different from casual skating. I learned it's not so much about pushing to the sides but rather putting pressure down. Thanks again for your answer and all your videos, I literally watch them daily to improve <3

How do you keep your back from hurting from a stance like that?
@ThePascalbriand2 ай бұрын
It’s actually a quite comfortable position for skating compare to speed skater who would be even more down. Do you expériences back pain when skating long?
@t.terrell70372 ай бұрын
Maybe I’m not doing it correctly but it feels like I’m squatting too low or my lower back starts to feel a bit fatigued when I bend my knees and try to stay in that posture while I skate. It feels more natural although more dangerous to straighten my legs! Lol. I guess I have to just keep practicing.
@ThePascalbriand2 ай бұрын
@@t.terrell7037 hi, yes you need to flex your leg little bit. Not too much otherwise it’s super hard for the leg. After you flex a bit, try to maintain it. For the upper body, then just bend a bit in front, at the beginning no need to bend forward like crazy. It’s not a natural position so it’s take a bit of time for the muscle to adapt and become stronger.

Finally found a video of someone doing the power stop in speed skates. I thought it was near impossible since I have 4 100 mm wheels and a size 3 boot. I tried to do it in my inlines I wore before I started wearing speed skates and I did it first try. I guess I'll have to try harder on speed skates.

Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. I've been trying to figure out why I was having lower back pain so I've been experimenting with different hip positions. Today I realized that pushing my hips a bit forward and somewhat rounding my back just like you explain in your video does the trick, no more back pain. I was having trouble 'engaging my core', this helps.

Bonjour Pascal! Besides skating imitations, are there other training methods/drills that help improve timing and keep it consistent during different scenarios? For example, when cruising at regular speed or during a sprint. What feeling should one be looking for to know it’s being done correctly?
@ThePascalbriand3 ай бұрын
It’s kind of an all time job to find the timing. The main tips is probably to have no moment they are completely static in the movement…. Always move even if there is a bit of speed variation in the timing. One gréât exercice is to do exercise where you count the step…. I would need a complete video about that. (Maybe coming soon)
@valkijzer3 ай бұрын
Yes, I guess the varying elevation on the road could influence the timing when a sudden increase/decrease in speed happens. I see both video's speed were reduced to 40%. Even though their timing was similar, were they going at the same speed as well?

Hi Pascal! Can an underpush be done in such a low position, and is the relationship the same? On another topic, should one land the skate when the pushing leg is in the green, yellow, orange? Does this vary with the position taken?

Pascal, to save energy over long distances, is it important to practice generating good pressure/push at an ever higher position? Or is it not going to get me very far, and I should focus on getting more efficient at a reasonably low position?

Avec les Rollers, c'est vraiment terrible ce speedwoble.. je n'ai vu aucune vidéo sur ce sujet qui explique et apporte des solutions. Il y a le montage des roues etc.. beaucoup de choses à dire quoi..
