Just out of curiosity….and because I have an old 732 that may need doing soon, what sets the preload on the bearings? Is there a mechanical stop on the shaft that stops them over tightening the bearings into the outer race? Just wondering because I know if you do any kind of taper wheel bearings on a trailer or the front hub on a car without backing them off a bit they fail real quick.
@SeaDooEric3 күн бұрын
I'm not sure if there's a preload, the torque spec for the nut was pretty high, I think over 250 ft lbs. These are slow speed bearings so I don't think bobcat put too much thought into it

I've got a 2002 seadoo gtx rotax and was doing an oil change on it today, its a long story but its been shifted through the family and hasnt run well at all. Been throwing an oil code and put itself in limp mode after 2500 rpm. When I did the oil change I noticed the oil filter cap had 4 prongs coming down from the center where the bolt slides in. Im guessing that is supposed to keep the bolt and cap together, but the cap was so incredibly tight on the housing that I ended up breaking those prongs trying to get the cap out. Putting the cap back on was so tight it broke the two new Orings on the cap and when I started it oil would shoot out of the center bolt. I already got a different cap ordered but I was curious about the cap for your filter since it looked different. Another thing was that when I pumped out the oil I barely got anything, maybe a quart was pulled by the pump when I was moving the line all up and down. Ski was level too
@SeaDooEric9 күн бұрын
The later oil caps retain the bolt so when you loosen the bolt it pushes the cap up. When changing the oil if you crank the ski in flood mode (hold the throttle al the way) then you may get more oil out

@@SeaDooEric yes 🙌 I just picked up a 2017 spark 3up that has been sitting for two years has 101hrs motor looks good no holes in the block and oil looked good haven’t check the oil filter yet. I replaced spark plugs and injectors. It ran for about 10 seconds then died. I checked the 30amp black fuse it was hot and had some corrosion hopefully that’s the issue. If not it may have low compression or other issues.

I like the direct injected 2 strokes, they are VERY good on fuel, idle perfect, and have lots of power. I think people who bash them don't know how to fix them. The skis here don't get much use with our short summers so old machines like my 97 still look great

I cant find this on the internet anywhere to actually be able to see what I need to know. My 951 has double springs, a small one and a bigger one, the 787 I'm not sure if someone messed with them before so what I want to know. Does the 787 as you show here have 2 springs per rave valve or only 1 longer spring?

The early SeaDoo Spark crank 2014-17 have the non-threaded end this can be removed with heat and a gear puller. Once removed it can be transplanted onto the Can Am crank once you remove the Ryker output shaft, with heat and a puller. Also one of the camshafts is definitely different, maybe both, I'm comparing them still. I'll cover everything in the next video

@SeaDooEricАй бұрын
My thought was to have stainless pipe pieces welded to the ride plate to replace the obsolete plastic nipples. Then connect the coolant hoses to the pipe nipples
@gregoryhathaway8862Ай бұрын
Hi Seadoo Eric, I recently purchased the same SKI 3 seater with closed loop. I purchased a new ride plate/ heat exchanger with new tubes, O-rings and nipples already installed. The nipples do not extend through the plate far enough for the tube to screw on to. The new tubes also have the threads on the inside of them with the nipple threads on the outside. It appears like a stronger system but doesn't do me any good if I can't thread them onto each other. I noticed on your video that it looked like you built the area around the nipple for better support or sealing. I know its been a long time since the video but I'm hoping you can steer me in the right direction for "adapting" my new ride plate. I can send you pictures if you like. Hope this gets to you okay and you can help. BTW nice job on yours Greg
@SeaDooEricАй бұрын
Greg, from what I remember I could not find any new nipples to fit that year ride plate, obsolete I think. So I ended up just buying a good used ride plate with the fittings. It worked out great for me. Maybe check eBay and see if you can find a good used one?? I considered having metal nipples made and welded to the ride plate but I found the used one
@gregoryhathaway8862Ай бұрын
@SeaDooEric Thank you for responding. Would you have welded to the upper portion of the plate? And if so, would it need to be taken apart?
@SeaDooEricАй бұрын
Yeah I would've had short pieces of pipe welded to the existing nipple hole in the top of the ride plate, which is stainless, any welding shop could do that.
