Okay so before I make my comment I have to say. I am very interested in wood working and trying to get started but I don’t know much at all. The thing that stood out to me here is the part that he trimmed down to put the axe on. I’m really sorry I don’t know the terminology here. The part of it that he put the wedges in and then hammered the bullet casings into. That part. It seemed to be a very little bit of material. I would be scared to give this axe a full swing without breaking the head off the axe. So is there something about this type of wood or the wedge type that I don’t understand that would make this a perfectly reasonable axe to use? Like is there actually no concern with this axe breaking? Sorry not trying to be critical or rude. Just trying to dig in and learn what I can. Oh also, do the bullet casings do anything structural or is it just for aesthetics?

Okay so I was so focused on the actual work he was doing that I didn’t stop to admire the build of the handle and axe blade. This thing is beautiful! Great design.

How deep are shells going? Are they cut down first? Are they just for looks or do they help?
@wisdomfox8572 сағат бұрын
His using them as a handle wedge but I wouldn't most wedges have grip so they didn't come out
