Criticizing Stathem for any of this is fairly preposterous. He's not working theater. He's selling audiences to see exactly what you critique. Thats whats on offer. And he never takes roles that would require anything more. He isnt going up for serious roles. he isnt an artist. He's an action star. And he stays in his lane. And i say that not having seen anything hes done sine The One. Its not my bag. If he ever were to be in a serious picture again id give him a whirl. But i won't because he won't.

Really funny tone but I didn't like how kinda meanspirited it got towards the end. Like, range *alone* does not a good actor make. There are plenty of superb actors *with* range, but that's not the same thing. Statham has presence, and when properly utilized; his range just isn't an issue. Big reason I'd love to see him work with Guy Ritchie again. He'd also be perfect in a Chad Stahelski movie, because he's very physical, and he can deliver sleek dialogue when placed well (which IMO the John Wick movies have plenty of). Would rather watch a dozen cookie cutter Jason Statham films than a dozen of the same Dwayne Johnson films for sure tho.

When the Leone spaghettis started coming out critics in the U.S, savaged him because they said he had a face without any expression and even Leone agreed but the public knew better and that is what they wanted to see, a cool, chill, no nonsense hero who would blow to piece a whole batallion of baddies in a simple puff at his cigar and without moving a single muscle in his face. And they never looked back. FF: the Rock has zero range but people watch his movies because they want to see him, not his range.
