GREAT VIDEO! how was the nightlife and entertainment ?
@CVDL16 күн бұрын
Thanks! There were different shows each night (a circus act, a Tina Turner Tribute, a Madonna Tribute, and more). I would say the shows were fine and enjoyable for a night out, but nothing that blew me away. There's also only one bar that is open past midnight (Desires), so while I wasn't there to experience the night life and it wasn't a factor in my love of the resort, I do think other resorts have better and a wider variety of night life.

Its a damn shame when people don't tip. Its not as though you have to drop a $20. A few dollars will do, but the service is worth far more. The staff works hard and they are very cordial and accommodating.

Hey Corey, just rewatched your whole contiki odyssey, got me thinking to do one myself. How did you go about booking all of them? Was is all one humongous plan from the start or did you sort of plan and book as you go? Thank you 🙏
@CVDLАй бұрын
Thanks so much! And that's a great question! I had a rough idea of the entire 400 trip mapped out in Excel (which took months to plan out), with most of 2019 being pretty firm in my plans. In November of 2018 I put deposits down on the first 6 months of the trip (pretty much everything from European Adventurer (May) to Big Indochina though I did change some of the trips around prior to leaving. I then only had to pay 45 days in advance for each trip so as I got closer to the trips, I started paying the full amounts. Everything from December 2019 - May 2020 was loosely mapped out, but I did not make deposits on those trips until around October 2019 (and some of the original trips were no longer available - such as Patagonia). So long answer short, I did have a pretty detailed plan but I didn't officially book everything all at once.

Yes, it is a great video, Thanks. The video was made on a rainy day, which is surprising, beacause we do not have much rain at all in punta cana. That' s why the atmosphere look so gray in some part of the video. But the hotel is awesome. Thanks.

Such good advice with the modular trip point. I just came off a Contiki the best of Balkans that was overall awesome however being a modular trip I felt half the group were disconnected and tired when we were just getting started beaming with energy and excitement Something to look out for next time

There wasn't a casino on site and I didn't try to go to Breathless during my stay, but I did hear people could maybe arrange with their Butler to get a day pass for Breathless. However, I can't speak to how that worked (or if it was dependant on who you talk to!)

Anyone have any comments on how Secrets Tides compares to Secrets Royal Beach and Cap Cana? Personally I prefer the beaches/water in Bavaro and Cap Cana to Uvero Alto area but this resort looks wonderful.
@TomJones-wi4nhАй бұрын
Mystere is a solid pass for me. It’s a first-gen cirque show and it definitely shows. The clowns slapstick wasn’t funny and the acrobatics were been-there-seen that. A hit for kids absolutely, but an adults, not so much. O otoh was absolutely amazing. Loved the slower elements - especially the clown segments. The show is very expensive, but a once in a lifetime experience if you can fit it into your budget.

Great feedback on these shows, but man please kill your background music! I had to turn on the captions just to see what you were saying at times. I saw Mystere back in the late '90s and it was fantastic. Saw Love the year it opened and liked it, but I'm not the world's biggest Beatles fan, so that probably reduced my enjoyment of that show a bit. Going to check out One this trip because I grew up listening to Michael Jackson and look forward to the music and dancing.

Thanks for the feedback! I actually agree with you - surprised no one else has pointed out the music is a bit too loud on the video but I edited with headphones and didn't notice the separation wasn't that great until I watched it after I uploaded it.

Absolutely! I would say needing to carry cash is probably the only downside at resorts for that reason, but it’s a worthwhile trade off at a place like this where the service was just so good.

The swim out is shared with the room next door?
@CVDL4 ай бұрын
Our room was shared with only the room next door. There are also swim outs at this resort where you share with multiple neighbours - which is usually how I’ve seen it at other resorts, so sharing with only one other neighbour is actually quite nice!

You're absolutely right, tipping is important! On our trip, we budgeted around $25 a day for gratuities (drinks, restaurants, housekeeping, etc.). Tipping customs vary, but coming from Canada we're very used to it and it makes such a difference for people who work at these hotels. The staff were so good and attentive everywhere we went that we wanted to show our appreciation as much as we could!

Thank you the video was great my wife and I are going in September resort looks great. After seeing your review of the resort I'm ready to go now. How long did it take to get from the airport to the resort?
@CVDL4 ай бұрын
I hope you have a great trip! The trip from the airport to the resort was about 45 minutes. We had arranged for a private transfer with Nexus in advance, and it was extremely painless (walked out of the airport and found the Nexus team who took us to the transfer vehicle). You can also arranged for a MUCH cheaper shared transfer, though I've done that in the past and had to wait 90 minutes at the airport for another party to join us before we could leave so I wanted to avoid that to be able to start the vacation as quickly as possible.
@anthonyenglish45864 ай бұрын
@@CVDL Thanks for that info, we always use a private transfer for the exact reason you stated. We can start our vacation sooner and don’t have to wait around for other people to arrive before we can leave on shared transportation.
