omg I'm 46 and there weren't travel groups like this when I was young and if there were I didn't know about them. I'm trying to convince my young nephews to take a trip like this! Contiki has been around since 1962, but I don’t think I ever knew or thought to look for group travel options until a friend suggested we do one back in 2007 and I remember thinking “what is a Contiki!?” I hope you can convince your nephews… they’d have such an amazing time!

@@jessicadorothy9532 You can! You can either choose not to drink but still go out or not go out and do your own thing! There's lot of people on these trips with varying degrees of interest in partying, drinking, and sight seeing and Contiki offers a variety that suits all kind of travel types!

I'm outside the age range now too! There are a few other brands out there that can cater to an older audience (Flash Pack is 30 - 49 - though I've never done a trip with them to verify how it is) and G Adventures often has trips that go up to 39!

Haha, I actually worked my butt off in the months leading up to the trip to give myself a buffer since I knew I was going to be gaining a lot of weight over the course of the year. But I blew past that buffer in the first few months of the trip and it just kept climbing. I've been working to get back down, but it's been hard to get motivated during quarantine!

Hello! The trip was in May - June 2019, so it was about 10 months before the pandemic started. From what I understand, locations are still mostly the same, though the order is a bit different (Switzerland happens early in the trip rather than near the end, for example). I hope you have an incredible trip!

Hope you enjoy it! That sounds like a great trip! It's tough to pinpoint an exact budget because everyone's different, but I'd recommend between 50 - 100 euros a day in your budget for food, add-ons, and maybe even a souvenir or two!!

Hey Corey, great content. I was wondering what was the easiest way for you to transfer currencies for each country? I intended to bring my cards but did you transfer cash at each bank?

Hey John! Great question. For most of the countries featured on this tip, they used Euros which made the process pretty simple. However, in general, I carried my credit/debit cards with me and would just withdraw from an ATM with my debit card when I needed more money or a new currency. I don't think I ever stopped in at a bank or a currency exchange place. Unfortunately you do pay fees to use an ATM with your home bank (those vary) so it can add up, but I would try to take out as much money as I felt I would need for that country and then store the bulk of it in the safe at the hotel while only carrying around a bit with me during the day. You could then exchange the excess money at an exchange place (or bank) as you move onto the next country, though in my case I just stashed it and now have souvenir currency from around the world (souvenirs that are actually WORTH something! :) )

Question: I am planning on going on this Europe trip in 2023 and I was wondering whether or not you can choose whether or not to do some activities, such as the wine tasting and night clubs? Is it compulsory to do this or not??

It’s all very much optional! There’s a lot of things that are included with the trip itself, but you’re also presented with add-ons that you can purchase once the trip starts. If the group is going out to a night club, you are welcome to stay back at the hotel, do your own thing in town, or tag along. You have a lot of freedom in deciding what you want to do!

Hey Aaron! Yes they are. This collection was filmed in May/June of 2019. And the rest of my contiki episodes were filmed between May 2019 - March 2020.

95% of the footage was shot on my Sony A7 III with the other 5% from my iPhone XR (typically late in the evening when I didn't want to bring my bigger equipment with me). Hope that helps?

@@CVDL oh thank you very much Corey! Did you use a gimbal or a stabilization device or solely rely on the A73's in camera stabilization? Also if I may pry further, what lens or lenses did you use? Brilliant work Corey. Thoroughly enjoyed your adventure!

Thank you! I actually didn't bring a stabilizer or gimbal, as I was trying to keep things as light weight as possible (though would consider bringing a small gimbal in the future). For most non-vlog footage, I would always stabilize it in post using Da Vinci Resolve's video stabilization. This worked surprisingly well, especially since my hands aren't the most steady... otherwise I feel a lot of my footage would have been unwatchable due to shakiness! For my lens, I started out with a Sony 16 - 35mm F/4 lens but that camera/lens were destroyed in the ocean halfway through my trip and I switched to a Tamron 17 - 28mm F/2.8 lens. I was pretty happy with the lenses and while I was glad I had minimal lenses to travel light, there definitely were times I wish I had a bit more range!

@@CVDL Brilliant! I'm yet to use Resolve but I've heard good things about it. I'm a premiere pro user and we have a similar post stabilization plugin called warp stabilizer, I suppose it works the same. If I may, the Zhiyun Weebill S would be a perfect gimbal for you considering the size constraints, plus at 300 dollars it's very affordable. I myself use the Sony 18-105mm F4 for all of the educational videos on my channel. I've been eyeing the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 Art as my next cinematic lens purchase but Covid has put a halt to those plans..oh well.. Good luck Corey and I hope to see more of your videos! I get to live vicariously through your adventures! Thank you.

On this trip, yes haha. Though I have done a couple of Contiki's that had ZERO Australians. However, Europe in the summer is a very popular time for Australians to escape the cold!
