I remember my Tekken 5 just sitting in that drawer. Bought it online and I test it to see if it work, it didn't. I was playing games one day and decided to try Tekken again. The game starts and the intro shows this plane shooting game. Its why I think the game's broken the first time. I pressed start and instantly became shocked after seeing a cutscene for Tekken 5. So it works?!! Played it and couldn't let go of it. I spend an hour tryna defeat jinpachi as Lee but just gave up since I don't want my fav to suffer and I have school the next day~!🤣🤣

Tekken have existed for about almost 30 years, the skill ceiling are limitless, you can't just spend two or three days learning a single character, you need literal a decade to master that character, even that you'd still find loopholes in your gameplay. Too diverse, too mechanical, too many things to learn, but thats what makes the community great, no 9 year olds playing this game since its too hard

I'm not a "fighting game player". I picked up Tekken 7 as my first one because I thought it would be fun to learn how to properly play a fighting game, and I'm a sucker for punishment. After about 6 months of playing it on and off, I think I'm pretty good. I can beat my friends and my online win rate is higher than I thought I could get it to. It took me a couple days to find and get used to my main, Hwoarang, but once I did I caught on pretty fast. A few days ago I picked up Guilty Gear Xrd. I couldn't afford Strive, let alone the characters I wanted to play. I only bought it because the characters and soundtrack were really good. I fucking suck at this game. When I was this far into playing Tekken, I had Hwoarang's BnB combos locked into muscle memory, had pretty good movement, and could hold my own in online matches. Right now in Guilty Gear, the best I can do is beat a CPU on the beginner setting... I'm gonna keep getting better, but for me, Tekken was easier to get into than Guilty Gear.

I played tekken since i was 4 years old not even kidding, that was back then 2007 I was playing tekken 5 (psp ver.) and finished it so many times and boy I thought I was the greatest. But then I go to local arcades when I was around 7 where they also play tekken 5, and I was beaten to shit by some middle aged man. Up until now In tekken 7 I still play a lot of it. My main is jin, and to kid you not I still consider myself as a low level noob. Though I can also play all of the characters. Except those Newer and Dlc ones. Tekken is the hardest fighting game ever (i know it cause i also play MvC,DBFZ,MK,SF4,EVEN FREAKING SHADOW FIGHT). Tekken 7 is the worst tekken because of combos. 😂

Tekken doesn't punish you that hard for not learning side stepping, KBD. It's much frequent to find unga bangas in Tekken. It only gets hard defensively at the highest level. Meanwhile getting started with games like KOF or SF4 without knowing about special cancels or not knowing how to do links, your character is pretty much useless.

@@shojinxARBS I main Steve since T5, and T5 is my first fighting game. Getting beat up by other players who has more experience than you ain't exclusive just to Tekken. Tekken is not hard for having lots of moves, it only makes it hard for new players, but having long list of moves actually makes the game easy at the same time. Having long list of moves means lots of options for the player, this is why mastering defense in Tekken is what makes the game hard, not having long list of moves. This is why tekken doesn't punish you that much, Bryan has this taunt cancel tech which is hard to do, yet you can see lots of Bryan players just spamming snake edge over and over, why do you think they do that? Because they can still survive not having to learn Bryan's taunt cancel, unlike my experience with Urien in SF3rdstrike, you only have few option to deal chunk of damage in mid screen, it's either learn mid screen unblockbles that requires charge partitioning, link combos which is easy to drop, or control your spacing to corner your opponent, but if you're playing against Akuma who can teleport to escape corners then be consistent with your only two options
@burds_do_fly7660
@burds_do_fly7660 Жыл бұрын
@@shojinxARBS And speaking of execution, I can casually hit 20+ hits combos in Tekken, meanwhile it took me 1 month to land Urien's TTH combo which only has 5 hits and another month to actually do it online and I still drop that combo if I don't play with focus. Same with SF4 and KOF links, even BnB combos can be dropped easily compare doing 20 hit combos in Tekken.

every fighting game dev has two paths. wanting to bring in casual gamers and allow them to have fun, or focusing on your competitive player base. street fighter is a great example of the former, while tekken is a great example of the latter. both have their place, and both should be celebrated and protected. if you think about it terms of physical games, street fighter is dodgeball. a game everyone can enjoy and some can excel at, while tekken is professional football or basketball. 90% of us will never have the drive to practice to a point were we can compete or just lack the natural skill required, but a good portion of that 90% love to watch it because it's understood how difficult it is which is the main reason it's so entertaining.

I wouldn't say MK 11 is difficult tbh especially compared to DBFZ which came before it. You get a hang of the fundamentals pretty quick and the combos are dial in so knowing a character's moveset makes it easier to block stuff outside of mix ups are reactable in many cases. You also have a dedicated block button so crossups don't really do anything compared to games where you hold back to block. It was certainly easier to get into for me than Guilty Gear and fighter z

I feel like the reason why Mortal Kombat 11 is so easy is because of the decision making. The meter has offense and defense tied to completely separate meters, this removes the thought process of either going for more damage and safer pressure, or saving up for a metered reversal. There is also the fact that if you spend defensive meter then the enemy could be placed in disadvantage instead of neutral or you could still be placed in disadvantage because their character has good okizeme. I’m general it feels like the meters are complete trash since they don’t reward players for playing good offense and your defense doesn’t set things to neutral. A better meter would definitely be Guilty Gear Xrd. It rewards you for good offense by giving you meter, and it has the decision making process of wanting to go for a Roman cancel, saving up for a super for more pressure, or going for a metered reversal. Even the burst meter is good because it can be baited but if it does hit it sets things back to neutral, in addition to that certain supers can be powered up by using the burst meter which yet again makes you think about whether you want to spend meter on offense or defense. Usually you can tell if a game is well designed based on the meter, and it’s not like Mortal Kombat is a bad series, I loved MKX and MK9, but the way they went about simplifying things made it so that although it was easy to get into, it felt bare bones in terms of mastery.

Its all semantics. If you define 'hard' as the difficulty of getting into a game, then alot of these games are pretty easy. If you are talking about it in terms of how difficult it is to get to the point where you win more than you lose, then that's a way different discussion that can't really be made into a list like this. It's always going to depend on what character you choose and what you want your play style to be. There are also different types of difficulty depending on the type of fighting game. For example, 2d and 3d require different types of inputs for executing combos. 2d focuses more on zoning and airial tech than 3d games. 3d games focus on juggling and stringing together combos to make a bigger combo. Most fighting games are designed with the idea that they are easy to pick up by hard to master. In the past few generations, they even come with lengthy tutorials and even input shortcuts for people who have a hard time pulling off basic combos. This isn't the 90s anymore, where you had arcade and versus modes and not much else. Now you have combo tutorials for individual characters, tutorials for guarding and countering, more detailed practice modes where you can change the settings around to create different situations to practice with. At the end of the day fighting games are a time investment, which is why people find them intimidating sometimes. If you go into fighting games with the intention of getting good, you will probably get pretty frustrated when some kid double perfects you online. If you just go into it wanting to have some fun, you will probably get good naturally by just playing and learning as you play. Practice is important to get good, but playing against others is important if you want to have fun. It's just a game, don't take it too seriously and have fun.
