I feel sorry for the actors playing Holmes and Watson just not the same. Its like trying to replace Sean as 007

I thought 🤔 this movie was pretty good. It was nice to see a young Christopher Lee. Star Wars, Lord of the Ring. Pretty cool 😎👍👍

Including the Creeper seems rather obvious, in that it feels too gimmicky. Even so, it works for this film.

George Zucco - with those coal-black eyes! He made for a sinister villain.

Basil Rathbone looks disinterested but the film is a good one - probably the last that displays any quality.

Good grief! That woman's attempt at a cockney accent makes Dick Van Dyke's effort respectable!

I think this is the first classic "Universal" Holmes film. "Voice of Terror" wasn't great.

The old woman is very pathetic - - not very smart but very desperate. I don't sympathize with her but I understand her feelings.

This Sherlock flic is unlike the other Universal productions I have seen thus far: An attempt at dramatic acting, close-ups with excellent lighting, and a plot line not bordering on the comical. The “pause that refreshes,” indeed.

Keep an eye on Basil, when they're in the pub with the inn keeper. During the inn keepers drunken rant, Basil smiles through the pipe stem holding back his laughter.

Screw Jeremy Brett, he sounded like Holmes needed a hysterectomy. Rathbone was the best Holmes. Too bad you couldn't work up a Holmes story with him and Jude Law as Watson (the best IMHO)

From historical accounts, in order for one to claim an estate with a direct heir, the claimant had to be a direct line descendant of the principal estate holder. Mr. Stapleton was Sir Hugo Baskerville’s great, great grandson through his maternal side. Sir Henry was also a great, great grandson of Sir Hugo but through his paternal side. However, due to his father’s death and his uncle dying without children, Sir Henry was the rightful heir. The only way for Mr. Stapleton to lay claim to Baskerville Estate, he would have to remove both Sir Charles and Sir Henry from the picture. He tried and failed and was instead caught, arrested, and tried for murder and attempted murder.

"I think of all the cups of tea you've had free in this house! " Poor Watson being put through the wringer in this episode, the indignity of having to wear another man's hat and coat, and then to be accused of murder haha. Basil Rathbone is my all time favorite Holmes, but I think Howard Marion-Crawford is the best Dr. Watson.
