Including the Creeper seems rather obvious, in that it feels too gimmicky. Even so, it works for this film.

Basil Rathbone looks disinterested but the film is a good one - probably the last that displays any quality.

I think this is the first classic "Universal" Holmes film. "Voice of Terror" wasn't great.

This Sherlock flic is unlike the other Universal productions I have seen thus far: An attempt at dramatic acting, close-ups with excellent lighting, and a plot line not bordering on the comical. The “pause that refreshes,” indeed.

Keep an eye on Basil, when they're in the pub with the inn keeper. During the inn keepers drunken rant, Basil smiles through the pipe stem holding back his laughter.

Love this & watch at least a couple times/year. It's so great to see Christpher Lee being so intense without fangs!

Screw Jeremy Brett, he sounded like Holmes needed a hysterectomy. Rathbone was the best Holmes. Too bad you couldn't work up a Holmes story with him and Jude Law as Watson (the best IMHO)

"I think of all the cups of tea you've had free in this house! " Poor Watson being put through the wringer in this episode, the indignity of having to wear another man's hat and coat, and then to be accused of murder haha. Basil Rathbone is my all time favorite Holmes, but I think Howard Marion-Crawford is the best Dr. Watson.

The musical score overwhelms this movie,,too,too, much!

My go to comfort movie. Love the songs, plot, and plot twists.

I grew up on these on the weekend when they played. Great times. Best English actors, lovely women’s clothing. Those were mannerly days!!! Miss them
