"Blue Matter" was a favorite of mine. The first time I heard it, I thought, "An English blues band! This has got to be cool." And, it was. I don't believe we were getting all the albums from the band here in the US. Nevertheless, Lonesome Dave did such a fine job subbing in on the live tracks that I felt he could well have been featured more often. I felt privileged to consider myself a fan of theirs.

Only one mention of Foghat in the comments sad since Foghat was an off-shoot of Savoy Brown that included if I remember correctly 3 members of SB.

To me this is the perfect Les Paul sound - not too overdriven, not too clean, just nice. It's kind of a shame he quit LPs

This kinda freeplay way back made ,up right big things like doubles free, try transporting one, actually easier than a mini grand piano. Now is this progress or not?

Wow! What year would this be? This is incredible. Pre strat days. Still sounds like he does when using a whammy. What a feel. Always outstanding. I reckon everyone knew at the time in the 60's-70's coming up that JB was the Guvnor. ty 4 such a classic gem of a clip.

Omg I'm in love with this solo. Classic Beck, a handful of tricks you won't hear anywhere else, that don't require great technique, just the feel and the imagination. A rare kind.

The fact that without Savoy Brown, you'd never have foghat, and neither have been inducted into the hof, tells you what an absolute joke the place is. But NWA is. Figure that one out.

It must have been the best time to be in a band in the 80s. 70s was all about concerts and being on the road for most of your career. 90s was a push for eletronic music and sampling. 80s was that sweet spot where you had a new outlet (MTV) for your music and your image, media like tapes and walkmen was taking off, then the late 80s new media in CDs. On top of that you could hit the road and not worry about being recorded on someones phone for any onstage antics.

The very best. The Master. Mr Beck could play anything and every guitar player should aspire to his creative exploration. I have friends who only like certain styles, but they are not really musicians and certainly not as gifted as Mr Beck whose duty it was to push the boundaries.
