I had just watched a live show with Kim and Savoy Brown. during the breaks i came up to the stage in this Chicago suburb club and asked Kim about his amps and guitars and stuff and mentioned i'm in a small local band. Kim was very humble and supportive and we talked about music. At closing time, i got a T-shirt and got Kim to sign the back. I said too bad its closing time i really liked the music. So to my surprise Kim says "it ain't closin time for me how about we go have a pint"?? I was amazed. So we head back to the bar and had a few beers and talked blues and guitars and music for some time. I am truly blessed to have had that experience with a LEGEND like Kim. I hope you read this Kim... it was a evening i will always remember! THANKS KIM!!

I, too met him; in a bar in Jacksonville, NC. When I walked into the back room, he was alone, warming up with his Flying V and a Fender "Champ Amp"! I couldn't believe it; I had that same amp! I still have the picture we took together. Your post is typical of Kim...a very likable, approachable, non-status guy. Glad you had that experience, and hope you still have the T-shirt! (:

Mine was the very first album, "Shake Down," which my military dad brought me from the UK around the time it came out. I continue to love everything SB did, through the Lonesome Dave years. Simmonds had one of the best tones & attacks in any form of rock, IMO. Brilliant player.

At 75, Kim and any version of Savoy Brown go straight to the roots of my heart and memory. Loved his shows and always hoped to see him again and thought it might happen in the Spring of 2023. Then came December of 2022. Still hard to accept his loss. RIP, sir. This is a great video. Thank you.

I'm lucky I have the live CD of this gig and this band. Found it by accident at a local used record shop here in Nashville. The disc was even signed by Kim! I listen to it just about every day. Unbelieveable jams. Got all the classic tunes too. Kim is the MAN. This was one of Kim's best groups. So tight. These guys just jell on every tune.

Way past his dues paying time Kim has outlasted some of the best in the rock world . Haven't lost a thing & continues to amaze us with those endless phrases he's so well known for. Saw him a few times with this line up & sadly never got to see him with the early days of Savoy Brown. A funny & one incredible talented musician . I'm sure his original Flying V is at home safe & sound & it matters not what guitar he plays on it always comes out pure Kim Simmons & that great Savoy Brown feel. Rock on Kim you made our musical generation all the better ..
