Injuries killed him in Madrid. By the time he fully recovered he was already being traded back to Milan who were honestly only taking him out of respect for his legacy with the club. He played in MLS for Orlando FC after that briefly and then finally retired back in Brazil for the club that signed him as a kid back in the day of Sao Paolo. Injuries catch everyone and unfortunately that hit KaKa while on super demanding teams that had zero time for guys to sit the bench for a year to recover.

small inaccuracy. You say that the Greek footballers had no experience in major competitions, but that is not exactly the case. Most of the players played in Panathinaikos which in the last years before 2004 was in the quarter finals of the champions league and the UEFA cup. International players also participated, as well as additions from AEK and Olympiacos teams that played in these european competitions against European players... Of course you are right that no one paid attention to these players and everyone underestimated them before the euro.

Ronaldo is making a false claims! his case and Naymer's was similar as he said earlier because they were chasing for big money. Can name a lot of Brazilian players that played and enjoy their stays in Barca to prove Ronaldo wrong on his claims

This is a really good video, and it really explains him well at the end both as a player and as a pundit (as a person too). It's very good it's highlighted how his career basically ended in 2012, while being 25. Most havent't even watched him before that, they only know he was an ex City player, maybe they catched the ghost of him (not even 20% what he was before the injuries) while he was at Villa, and they think they know him as a player.

Kyle Walker. That's the potential Richards had. Simliar style, physically dominant. Stronger and bigger than Walker, not as fast, but still very fast before the injuries. Weirdly skilled and a good dribbler for such a big guy. He was regularly making good runs down the flank and getting past people one on one. Most forgot or dont't know he was actually one of the best RBs in the league around 2008-2012, and was keeping Zabaleta on the bench, before the injuries started. Btw, this video makes it look like he competed with Zabaleta for the spot in the starting XI. As far as I remember Richards was as sure starter as long as he was fit and was only out of the team when he was injured. Zabaleta wasn'r a threath to Richards before he lost his athleticism around 2013. You could say Zabaleta was maybe a bit overlooked because he was pure class since he broke into the starting XI and is one of the best RB I've ever seen in the PL.

The man won the premier league and FA cup and played for his country he was a great player. They “make fun of him” because he is with one of the greatest players of all time in Thierry Henry and Jamie carragher’s pedigree is outstanding as well
@siberianTiger639
@siberianTiger639 3 ай бұрын
The biggest reason people make fun of him is because he doesn't take himself too seriously and is a bit of a goof, but it doesn't say anything about his ability as a footballer. It says more about thise people and how they are thinking. He was an ELITE talent and already one of the best RBs in the league, up until the injuries started around 2013 and he was never the same after those.

@@gabrielcesar2388 even as a non City fan I liked to watch him too. Was quite exciting to see a guy with a physique of a rugby player bombing down the flank with great pace, beating people one on one and often creating chances and making assists. As the video says, had the most assists as a defender in 2012 PL, even though he missed quite a few games that season because of the injuries.

Had he stayed there was chance he didn't get that nasty injury or maybe delayed it until his mid 20s (he was born with knee defect that causing instability and prone to injury considering his style of play). Dribblers flourished in la liga because the game philosophy was different than serie A and also the tougher competition was just among 2-3 teams. Rivaldo would certainly join Barca later on because this R-R was Brazil top forwards at the time and suited each other. And imagine Ronaldinho joining soon after. All Barca had to do then was to make the defense more solid and employ a world class CM/CDM. What a crazy 'what if' story I just wrote.

Well...we where playing very well in Southafrica World cup and the Euro following...Santos who won the Euro with Portugal was building up on that legacy and the players back than played in Inter Milan, AS Roma, Befica Lisabona, FC Fulham, Werde Bremen, Bolton, so they made their fortune. People have to realize that we are a small country and we cant effort to have every new Generation Wonderkids...those players where the so called golden ones....I was there and I thank God that I was able to experience this Wonder which was surely not only with the Help of God, but also with the God given Talent and the Courage of the Greeks. Proud to be one.
