I've never heard anyone mention the equispacing and lack of ease-in-and-out in Steamboat Willie, or presumably other early Disney animations as well. It would be interesting to compare with Fleischer and see who started using it first, and when. I would guess Fleischer since they were doing rotoscope work, and I would assume that would have influenced the implementation.
@DarrenTAnims2 күн бұрын
The equispacing is something strange to force yourself to do after using easing for so long, but to keep the same style, you have to. I don't think there's a strict point where easing was recognised as a useful technique. I think it just eased it's way into the early cartoons. The early artists were all watching what each other were doing, so I think it just slowly came into their art.

Can you split screen and separate the palettes in Tahoma? I opened it once on my MacBook and the working screen area was tiny. I have a zbook with built in wacom digitiser and a 32 inch screen - if I could pop all the menu's and tabs onto the 32 inch screen and keep the 14 inch zbook free as a drawing area - that would be great.
@DarrenTAnims3 күн бұрын
Yes you can drag any panel away from the main view and leave it floating on the same screen or move it to your 2nd screen. I know some users like to have only the drawing area on the tablet and have the main screen with the docked panels on their 2nd screen. You just have to press the padlock at the top right of the screen to unlock the panels, then drag them around by dragging their header bar. Don't forget to press the padlock again when you've finished, so that you don't accidentally drag panels away while resizing them.

@@DarrenTAnims Still not having much luck with dragging panels out but I discovered that double clicking on where it says "ZOOM" makes the drawing area full screen. Something is up with my zbook though as Tahoma really hangs sometimes - especially if I click on the Vector panel. It's hanging the same way Flash does. Worst case scenario, I'll need to flatten my disc and reinstall the OS.
@DarrenTAnimsКүн бұрын
Yes, you can double click on panel headers (or press `) to make them full screen. What difficulty are you having with the panels? Are you moving them at all? Have you checked that your room padlock is unlocked? If you want to solve this, drop me a screenshot on my Discord server of when you're trying to drag them or even better, a video.

Isn't opentoons more advanced while Tahoma2D is easier to pick up? I think of Tahoma2D as opentoons but easier, I used to use Adobe Animate long ago and decided to switch to T2D because it's one of the easier animation programs for tweening and it's pretty good, easy but really good and not limited like Wick Editor, the one I found before T2D, god that program was awful and IIRC never been updated since I've found it and it had many missing features.

Does Tahoma2D suffer from instability like Opentoonz does?
@DarrenTAnims10 күн бұрын
Tahoma2D is basically 98% the same code as OpenToonz, but with some additional features, so it has the same stability. But some users find one program more than the other. So you can install OpenToonz and just download & unzip Tahoma, you can try them both out to see which works better for you.

I've heard this request a few times, but most people don't want to share their art, but those that do, do share them and you can download them and use them in your animation. However, if you want to build up a library of art, you can do so and re-use them in your own animations.
