Great walkthrough of a very complicated technique. I really liked the bouncer story you added in.
@jasonjean29012 ай бұрын
I'll go play with this and see how it goes. The technique appears very sound, but all my training partners are grapplers and I suspect I'm going to get my back taken or my legs grabbed when I try to go under the arm. I suspect the key to preventing a grappler from taking advantage while your back is to them is to use the grip on their upper-arm to raise and twist, forcing their torso to move past you quicker, so they don't have the time or position to take advantage of you going under their arm.

My very first school I trained at was called Ho Shin Moo Do in the early 80's in San Diego and they taught Hapkido . This hard as nails Korean guy did all the teaching and you could just show up at any time and he'd appear out of nowhere and start teaching you. Canvas covered floor , ancient random photos and artwork . Incense 24/7 . Was everything a young martial artist could want . School ended up closing about a year after I joined , broke my heart . I ended up going in various directions but always had a soft spot for Hapkido . It has everything in it from striking to grappling . I vividly remember a technique very similar to this . I went around every day telling my friends "Dude, grab my shoulder ..." I was READY!

That was the very first set I did it too, I found that the better quality used a harder steel and that they were a little easier to break than the cheap ones. The cheap was what bend more instead of breaking

After the first block you just use a right knife hand of Hammer fist to the side of the neck, templel ect. Much faster and easier! It's a great technique he's teaching but in a real fight I would use mine to end it fast! ❤

Likely requires a solid amount of strength. Guy’s clearly got muscular forearms and still took him effort. It’s also about the finesse. The point is to change the links to solids by tying them tight like he did. Now there’s a weak point and you need to apply all that force on that point. Start working out and practise doing it if you really need this

Many techniques you've shown start from contact. I'll go through the videos you offer (thank you) and I hope you have some that show situations that start with two persons facing off without initial contact. (grips at the shoulder, lapel, wrist, etc.)

@@ccroadkill You're welcome, and I appreciate the content. I studied tang soo do mu duk kwan with my kids for a few years. I was always impressed that the techniques taught were about body mechanics: the best way to move with the most power. It appealed to the engineer in me then as your videos do now.

And stuff like this is supposed to work when? Because it sure aint going to work in a fight, unless the attacker is drunk and almost passing out.

Thank you for the demonstration. I have a question. What are you're thoughts on softening techniques? Like delivering a strike to set up a technique or lock. Thank you for the excellent instruction sir.
@ccroadkill4 ай бұрын
A strike of that nature can absolutely be a benefit especially when it comes to the locking techniques. Many of the breakways are fine without a Pre strike.
