Patek Philippe’s catalog has a lot of great looking watches. This one is different, but I think all of them contain something special. Gladly, no one seems to care about this model, so it was available!

Thank you! Each PP is unique. I love their variations in design. There is some overlap with the Daytonas, but I like to switch up the gold color. And I like the 3-pack combination of the Sub/ GMT/ Daytona.

Nice dial and movement but that bracelet looks so cheap ….
@sc12 күн бұрын
This is not a tool watch or sports watch, not something to take into the water. So the bracelet will never be as robust as a Rolex. I think they were going for a ‘dressy’ bracelet vibe - all polished and thin - but took the risk of looking ‘cheap’

I've always found it a little strange that Patek comes with long straps. A gimmick to make those with average wrists purchase new straps?
@sc12 күн бұрын
I think they should at least offer either size with the watch, but I suppose it would be difficult to keep all those straps in stock.

I bought this same coat from eBay too. Also from 1968, Kersey wool, exact same label. Very thick and warm, I love how big the lapels are too.

Cool, these coats are a real bargain. They don’t make them like this anymore. Mine still feels built like a tank, even after 55 years.

I heard it. The subdials maybe should be slightly larger or spaced out some more, but it really doesn’t bother me. Most people would not even notice, unless it was specifically pointed out.

That 5226G is really growing on me. But if they're going to bother with a date function, I feel they should make it nice and legible like Rolex or like German watches.
@sc12 күн бұрын
The 5226G may still be my favorite watch out of the entire watch box. It has something about it… the subtlety and the attention to details. But does not LOOK pretentious.

The classic submariner is the best. I've heard watch collectors start with a submariner then try out different watches before returning back to the classic sub with greater appreciation. I feel lucky to have it as my first swiss watch.

I've been putting-on weight since Covid, so decided to do something about it. I've been jogging for years, so exercise is not the problem: it's just food. But I don't like high-quality food; I've never eaten a salad in my life. So this summer I decided to keep eating-out for lunch every day, but only eat half the lunch, take the other half home, and eat that other half as my evening meal. Yes, I'm hungry each evening for a couple of hours, but you get used to that. In fact, _shouldn't_ we be a little hungry each day, instead of simply eating out of routine? Anyway, it's a life-change that I'll do till the end, and I'm fine with it. I'll assess benefits in three or so years.
@sc13 күн бұрын
Most people mistake ‘hunger’ for ‘not being full’. ‘Hunger’ is going 2-3 days without food. Naturally, we should not be full most of the day. Most of the day, we should have an empty stomach, and feel comfortable with that. if someone eats every 2 hours, that is what they will feel accustomed to.

So im obsessed with this watch and i think it’s so great. However it’s trading at least 10k-15k below retail for a barely worn one. From 2023. It’s hard because id prefer to get one from the boutique but that is such a massive swing financially. I just dont think that unless i was able to bundle this with perhaps a harder watch to get that i would be able to turn down essentially 15k worth of savings. I also ordered short straps for my 5226. Ive been waiting for 3 months. Have you gotten yours quickly? I had to put mine on a Delugs strap that is similar.
@sc13 күн бұрын
My regular production short straps came in to my AD within 4 weeks. If you order a non-standard color or material, it takes longer. My custom made grey leather color took about 3 months. I’m glad to see someone else that appreciates this watch. if you don’t want to pay full retail, no worries, it’s ok to get this one the grey market and save some money.
@denizdeveaux31972 күн бұрын
@@sc1 I have been obsessed with this watch since it released in 2021. I finally picked mine up on the grey market last week....brand new with the updated 330 movement and paid $36K....I am so glad it flies under the radar and no one is interested in it 🙂
@zdnice2 күн бұрын
@ yeah its a phenomenal choice. Congrats on it man. Thank you for the info on the straps. I’ll have to check in again with my AD. Its been probably more than 2 months now. Im just waiting on on the standard ones that come with the watch but in the small. It’s been a little over 2 months. They recently told me they were on back order. The delugs version of the light tan one has been holding me over. I have to say your videos of you wearing the 5226 and 5212 (which. I have my name on the list for) served as a source of inspiration for me

Hi, do they repair the inner interlining heel area?
@sc13 күн бұрын
Not sure. They normally don’t replace the inner leather lining as part of the normal service. But if it is damaged, they might be able to repair it. I think my inner leather remained the same. I would send them an email and ask them directly.

Great collection and journey. Do you keep the watches with complications in a watch winder? I would image it would get quite tedious having to set them each time
@sc14 күн бұрын
I don’t like having around the bulk of a watch winder. Honestly, when I put on my 5205G for a couple days, I just set the time and don’t bother to reset the moonphase/day/date/month. I only set them if I plan to wear it for a prolonged period of time.

Great video, thanks for making this review. I acquired my 4947 steel about a year ago, and I wear it almost daily. It’s a beautiful watch, has lots of substance to it, and I think is under-appreciated to date. I could see this gaining momentum once it’s discontinued.

This watch has not gotten much attention since it was released in 2021, but it is one of the few Patek watches that is small enough for my wrist. Glad to hear it can be worn daily.
