Hey Red, I was interested in a Z7 ( 4 string ) and your video popped up on KZbin. You seem like a nice guy; but, I think a few suggestions are in order. I think it would help in the future if you typed out a summary of what you want to go over in your videos; and, have your bass tuned and ready to go. If you did something like that, it would have cut the time of this video in half. I saw another video on the Z7 where a guy had more serious problems with the neck pickup. That steered me away from the Z7. I currently have two Sires, the P5 4 string and P5 5 string. I had a Sire U5 short scale but gave it to a friend who wanted to learn bass. No problems whatsoever with those basses. You might want to send your feedback to Sire on their website. Only when enough players call out manufacturers for problems that should not show up on a new bass will they maybe make changes to their QC. Good luck in your future videos.

@@ralphsanzo688 Thanks for feedback. I hate when you click on a video and they start out with a life update before showing how to fix your lawnmower or whatever so I do try to keep it on point. Or at least take care of business out of the gate. I did contact Sire for specs and let them know I’m dropping in a dual coil Bartolini for the single coil…hint hint for next video…I’ll edit out any tuning. May write something for description but I don’t have much time and playing with puppy heals my soul. So I jumped at the Z7 cause of dent and scratch discount. The neck is amazing, only using preamp messing with effects but never live and the Black Beauties have settled in nicely and look cool so big win.

@@Redbeard4321 Good idea with the Bartolini's. As I said in the prior comment, all three of my Sire's came in good to go; but, that being said, I still put Seymour Duncan pickups in them as I just wanted a more dynamic sound. I don't think anyone gives you more bang for the buck than Sire. I'm sure when you get those Bartolini's in there it will be one killer bass. Good luck to you.

@Redbeard43215 ай бұрын
Heel = where the neck is joined to the body? There’s a couple pictures on reverb. I tried to show some glue up under the finger board. And what I assume you’d call a peg going into the heel from the top. My best guess is that at some point in the last 70 years, the neck was repaired. Austin Violin must of liked what they saw they because they worked on everything else. Can send additional pictures if you’re serious and contact through reverb but this is definitely not a museum piece.

@Redbeard43215 ай бұрын
1750 but it’ll go down to 1575 per Reverbs 10% after 2 weeks. I know that’s high for a quarter size Kay but it was just professionally restored for almost $1000. My buddy will take it in September with a friendly discount, which is nice cause now I got no reason to haggle. I would: have the bridge reshaped to get the D string in a better position to bow and my plan was to get the action stupid low and put a Krivo magnetic pick on. Maybe I’ll get an NS cello and tune it down one day…I like bowing but at my best was never proficient at it.

I have a new project bass. I just got a 1972 precision neck, that some flattened the fingerboard, and glued on a slab of ebony, and gave it a 9.5 to 12" compound radius, fretless. So far, I have dressed the fingerboard to a full 9.5 radius. Next step is fret slots and frets. The body is a 77 or 78 precision in original three tone sunburst. There was routing done for a jazz pickup near the neck, and a monster route near the bridge. I plugged the monster route with a pine plug which was sanded and given three coats of amber shellac. I am a busy boy.
