@@chickenbobby666 make sure you find The Fall Guy is Really Good!!! That’s my other personal favorite. Honestly I thought it’d be cool to grab a couple funny Lou Wilson quotes and this just kind of fell together. I had to play another minute or so of bass to make it fit but editing it together was like the hardest part.

I have a new project bass. I just got a 1972 precision neck, that some flattened the fingerboard, and glued on a slab of ebony, and gave it a 9.5 to 12" compound radius, fretless. So far, I have dressed the fingerboard to a full 9.5 radius. Next step is fret slots and frets. The body is a 77 or 78 precision in original three tone sunburst. There was routing done for a jazz pickup near the neck, and a monster route near the bridge. I plugged the monster route with a pine plug which was sanded and given three coats of amber shellac. I am a busy boy.

@@telecasterbear hmm…have you considered Mandolin fret wire? Leland Sklar has it on everything and now that I tried it once-I want it on something. You’re keeping the Ebony, is it a good piece of wood? Had an Ebony-ed neck on the Fenderstein at one point with the bridge moved up like 2/3” and I want one! Gonna feel bad if you’ve been making videos and I’m missing them but are you gonna do some videos?

@Redbeard4321 I only have two bass repair videos on my KZbin channel. It's just a slide show of pictures in each. I have not used mandolin wire. The piece of ebony is very black. There is no visible grain.

@@telecasterbear if they’re more then a year old then that’s what I’ve seen. I don’t have enough patience and barely pulled off a couple fretless conversions…I’m the guy you station at the chop saw and yell measurements too. Hope you put something together for KZbin with this next project.

When I started you could not go into a guitar center without at least 2 people playing Higher Ground on bass. Flea was everything and for my friend’s dads it was Jaco. Jameson, flatwounds and foam mutes just sounded better to me. 2 B Clear-I love Flea (Claypool, Graham, Mark King) but in 98/99, that’s what “everyone was doing!”

Agreed. Flats for me as well. There was no guitar center back when I started. You were not born yet. It was 1975. Only mom and pop shops. Such a great time. Looking at great used gear that I could not afford. I was only 15 then.

@@telecasterbear just getting back a 5 string that was with a friend for soldering pre-Covid. Teetering between trying Half Wounds or these new Low Tension LaBella’s. Look up Dogal Hellborgs on KZbin but a 5 string set is $100+! Now that Hellborg’s have been around a while I should try to find out how they’re aging…

@Redbeard4321 Yes indeed. I miss seeing reviews by Ove Bosch. He died so young at age 51. He did reviews for warwick gear. A great bass player.
