Ray is very complex character and i actually think he was tryna distract here there on the beam, so she wouldn't have time to think about her fear. He obviously got an interest in her after seeing her jump from the Devils drop. He's intrigued. Sure his ways are questionable but i don't think he was out to get her.

I think Dean realized that "Sam" wasn't Sam right away. But he was trying to figure out the why of it before he acted, which he didn't find out until Gary made the attempt to kill him.

Busty Asian Beauties makes another appearance in magazine form 😂 We see that Dean has finally memorised an exorcism, which he previously failed to do in the Season 3 episode Sin City. It’s a Freaky Friday episode set to the tune of Supernatural but without Jamie Lee Curtis or that ginger scatter brain Lindsay Lohan

The band playing at the Bronze when Buffy was traumatizing Xander was Cibo Matto, a real band. At this point in time their bassist was Sean Lennon, son of famous Beatle John Lennon. For some reason they had him and only him lit in blue light onstage. The song they were playing is called "Sugar Water". There is a music video for than song here on KZbin. It's kind of interesting.

Buffy's new hairdo is clearly a professional job…but it's certainly possible that she gave herself a stress-cut and then went out to get it fixed up at the salon. Ms, Calendar also has shorter hair now. It's possible that's a trauma response as well, since the finale was the first time she'd ever seen a vampire (AFAWK) and then they were all over the place. If there's a way to revoke the invitation, it hasn't been specified as yet. All we know is that simply saying "you're not welcome here" (as Buffy did to Angel after she threw him through the window) won't do it…because here he is. Because in this edited version you cut right from the "trout" discussion to Xander saying "they're going to cook [Cordelia] dinner?", I wonder if what seemed like random silliness happened because Xander has cooking on his mind. Indeed, since it is Xander who brings up trout in the first place, and since we learned in the Invisible Girl episode that Xander's mother apparently doesn't cook, I wonder if he's been trying to teach himself?

Buffy is all about character development. The show starts out first season with the characters as simple high school stereotypes: Willow the shy brainy nerd, Xander the sex-obsessed adolescent boy, Cordelia the mean queen, Giles the stuffy British bookworm, and Buffy the "ordinary girl" hero, who always has it together. But here they start to have some character changes: Buffy shows some very human flaws, Xander stands up to his former crush, and Cordelia actually helps Buffy.

Buffy dealing with her trauma is always a highlight of the series (spoiler alert, this won't be the last time) and this is one of the best examples of it, with how she's willing to be such a bitch just to try and avoid having to feel her feelings

Buffy is stronger with her friends around her. That’s true for all of us. It is really awful to see Buffy acting the way she did in this episode but 100% believable with what she went through. One thing people forget sometimes is she is still just a 16-year old girl dealing with all of this responsibility.

99.9% of your questions will be answered in the show. Maybe not as quick as you like but it will be answered. I would phrase your questions as "If I missed this . . . " or "If this doesn't get answered . . . ." Even then it's a bit risky for spoilers for this fan base. They just can't help themselves.

Ah "The Sexy Dance". SMG does cruel sexy like no one else. See "Cruel Intentions" for a master class in Mean Girl. That little cry that Buffy gives on that first swing of the hammer stabs my heart a quarter century later. Very astute observation about Buffy's state of mind. She WILL die in battle, again. There is no Slayer retirement program. That's a lot for a 16 year old girl to deal with. The song in the ep "It Doesn't Matter" might as well be "The Slayer's Elegy"

@@TheCornerverse SMG was getting a bit type-cast in those spoiled, mean-girl type roles. If she were to have gotten the role of Cordelia as she was originally up for, that would have played right into that. This episode kind of teases a little what she'd be like as the mean girl.
@killianlpc

A great opener from S2 Buffy obviously suffering from PTSD, and taking it all out on her friends. Interesting when Cordelia even tries to intervene after Buffy sexually teases Xander on the dance floor, referencing Buffy to Joan Collins as a type of 'Uber Bitch' because she knows that behaviour herself. All's well at the end and a bit of comic relief with The Anointed One ' I hate that girl' Another well written episode exploring psychological illness and how it can affect others. On re-watch you can notice so much more in each episode that was missed first time round.

My theory/opinion is that Terry sent El to find Kali because she wanted El to save Kali. One of the last memories she has is seeing not just her daughter in the lab, but *another* little girl as well-- Terry knows it's too late for herself, and she doesn't want her baby to waste her life sitting by her comatose body trying to fix what's already too broken ("I'm home" "No."), so she redirects her attention to the other child she saw. If El got out of the lab, maybe that other girl can too, and maybe whatever mother out there grieving her lost child can be reunited with her. Maybe El can find family with her, as well, since they grew up together. As for Kali, I do believe she was being genuine when she said she felt a sisterly connection with El. Her motives are twisted by rage and revenge, and her methods are manipulative (veeeeeery similar to Brenner's psychological manipulation, and her power is quite literally tricking people's minds, so it was probably learned) but she tries to guide El through what she believes will actually help her, because it's the closest she herself has gotten to relief. I think El did "save" her, and by leaving, helped her realize that there might be more real fulfillment in protecting the good things in life as opposed to destroying the bad things. I genuinely hope this isn't the last we see of Kali.
