Hey i like your content! Question i seen you modified the killie trap to catch geeen crabs, do you think that would work on the south shore? I’m wondering if I could get them in the oceanside area.
@nelsonfelixoutdoors6095Ай бұрын
@@Waterboy516 yes it will, I’ve caught them along many docks and sod banks as west as Jamaica bay all the way east to shinnecock
@Waterboy516Ай бұрын
@ do you think right off my dock in the back yard would be good or better to leave it toward the marsh? I mean I guess I’ll have to experiment a bit. I’ve never seen them hanging out on the bulkhead at all not sure if they were actually in the channel
@nelsonfelixoutdoors6095Ай бұрын
@ I think they are pretty much everywhere. Some places more than others, but I usually get some everywhere I try for blue claws . I think they burrow more in the mud as opposed to hang around the pilings.

Why don't you just buy a little boat.
@nelsonfelixoutdoors6095Ай бұрын
@@williamhamill813 completely different experience. I had one years ago. A small center console. I loved it as well, especially on days where it was too windy to kayak and I wouldn’t say I’d never get one again, but I would also never give up kayak fishing. Plus, the boat usually means I would have to take people with me which means 90% of the time I’d be re-rigging and driving the boat instead of fishing. Being on the kayak, puts me as close to nature as possible. When I get too old and weary to be on the kayak, then I’ll probably get a boat again.

Not sure why everyone perpetuates the myth that clams are full of sand. Unless the shell is broken while digging them, there is only sand on the outside. If you find sand inside of a clam, it is dead. Swish basket in the salt water where they were harvested and then a quick rinse, brief soak and they are clean and ready to be steamed/boiled. Any remaining sand on the shell will end up on the bottom of the pan after cooking.
