What a productive day on the water. I live on the south shore of Long Island. Have you had any problems with the current or passing boats in the kayak? I have a SeaEagle 285 Frameless Pontoon Boat Inflatable Fishing Boat. Do you think I can use it in the harbor, and back bays? Tight lines.

Hey, boat traffic isn’t too bad if you can go during the week, even the afternoons after work on a weekday aren’t too bad. I tried to avoid weekends on the South Shore after memorial day unless I can get out at 5 AM on a Saturday morning and then get off the water by 9 AM before all the weekend warriors show up. As far as the current goes, yes, it can really rip down here so I try to avoid going around the new and full moons when the current is the strongest. Half moons are ideal. During the strong current moon phases I’ll go up to the north shore and fish the sound and harbors where there is a lot less current

What heaver set up did you switch to when you caught the big blue at the end?

@@artvandelay418 the jigging world Nexus medium heavy with a Penn spinfisher 3500 and 20 lb test. It’s still considered on the lighter side for some but it handles most of the fish just fine, Bluefish to mid teens and striped bass to 30 pounds in current with no problem and you can jig it all day. Once you step that up to something a little heavier, it just gets really tiring on the arms jigging all day.
