Just did a service on the XR5 today, and my old oil was pretty black like yours, however the O-Ring around the filter was also very oily, unlike yours which looked pretty much new... Also, I didn't have some of the tools needed, such as the 36mm socket for the oil filter, making the oil change a very annoying job... I used 6.5 litres of Penrite 5W-30 Fully Synthetic (I know some use 0W-40 like yourself, but I guess both are fine), and a genuine oil filter...

Nicely done, yeah the oil change isn’t a fun job especially if you didn’t have the 36MM socket for the filter that would’ve been tricky. And Penrite is perfect I just went with the Castrol as it’s what the car has had since new just to keep it consistent with all the servicing books 😄

@@TheGearChange Well I did buy the 36mm socket, but the issue was that it was too large, and I didn't really have the correct attachment for it... In the end, I got the filter off with some pliers lol... Dodgy I know, but it works at least 😂

@@TheGearChange Fair enough on keeping it consistent with the service books... Mine doesn't really have a full service history, and it seems like various grades of oil were used by the Ford dealer for some reason...

@@bonkfnt I like the headlights from CT AutoParts, as for the taillights if you want smoked LEDs they are also the people to go with. But you can get led rear globes for the factory ones to brighten them up 👌🏼

Not yet. I'm struggling to decide between the xr5, a Holden astra vxr, or a golf gti, which one do u think is best?

@@SagginRL I looked at both the VXR and GTI, and I didn’t mind them but I wasn’t a fan of how they sounded and parts seemed to be quite expensive for them as well. So if I was you I’d go with the XR5 but I would suggest that you do a test drive of one to see what you think 👌🏼

@@SagginRL Yeah definitely still test the others out, and not at all, with a few bolt on mods such as the exhaust, intake and intercooler you make really decent power and keep it reliable too 👌🏼

Reminds me of my old one so much. Have you tried the trick if you go out to somewhere quiet. Get the car warm. Get the revs up to about 4k then flutter the revs about 1k super fast with your foot and you will get flames out the exhaust and massive pops

Hello I have same car :D but in europe. Did you have dreamscience? My Turbo gauge is only at half of chart at 1,2,3 gear... from 4-6 is a little bit above half only...

Hello mate, I also have dreamscience, my guess is that you maybe need a new boost solenoid as another person said above, or you may have a slight boost leak somewhere

Hey mate, the exhaust does majority of it but the tune does effect the timing and thus you get far more pops and bangs with it 👌🏼

Looks like a pain to do this job, and it's something I need to do to my XR5 badly, as the air smells like a vacuum bag when you turn on the AC... Will be doing it in the not to distant future, especially as summer comes around...

@@MartinJones123 It definitely wasn’t an easy install that’s for sure, but with enough time and patience I managed to get it done. And mine had a little bit of an odd smell that indicated that it needed changing and the air is much clearer now so I’m glad I changed it over. @@marktipton218 Because that’s just what Ford here in Australia decided to call them, when we manufactured our own Fords we had the XR6, XR6 Turbo and XR8 so Ford Australia decided to give the MK2 ST as most people know it the name plate “XR5 Turbo” to fit our lineup of cars at the time 👌🏼
