A game that's been in the works for a little and just released is called universalis remastered and in my opinion it's wayyyyy better than ron because you can't just take people and finish games in 2 seconds with everyone meta gaming like ron. Instead it actually balances power between everyone and in my opinion it's in a cooler period of time. The only downside is that technology only goes up to the 1800s and most of Africa asia and half of South America are cut off but apart from that it's extremely good.

Just found this video at a perfect time: I'm currently working on a simplified grand strategy game of my own. It's not designed to rival RON; I can barely even play it, even though my co-owners and staff can, but it's designed to be a different take on the general genre. It's much more similar to Dummynation Multiplayer really, but it has its own unique charm and features. It's more of for newer people to the genre, since this type of game is very hard to get started in, albeit it still isn't very easy to learn. Still, you can learn it's rules and mechanics in a page of instructions. So, overall it's definitely not aiming for RON success, but I think it would be neat if you checked it out in the future when it's out of testing.

i doubt you'll play it but even if you do just a little note that its not video material; the game is rather simple and the army mechanics are basic. i like to focus on diplomacy whenever i play and the game doesnt have much action to comment on most of the time. that and its also in alpha, but still.

Italy is one of the best countries to play in ron (in my opinion), because it’s availablity to take chunks of Europe and Africa; Africa,which has mostly ai countries
