GM was a 283. Ford was a 289. Slant 6 is excellent, also the ford 300 straight 6 last for ever. There are several 12 v fridges on the market, even apt size. Nice build.

Beautiful and he was loved loved. But just think he is with our Lord watching over his Becky while she continues on what you both started. Fabulous ideas on all the different designs for your boat. Love the solar solution for the lighting and battery charging. We had a pontoon house boat with propane stove, and there was nothing better than getting up early, checking lines, and making biscuits, gravy, eggs, and hog jowl while we waited for the fish to bite. Great memories. Can't wait for the solar how to video, I have lots of questions, lol.

Reminds me of the houseboat my Dad had, we had some good times on it. We are on Norris as well. Wish I still had it now to enjoy. The freeze dried food is an incredible idea. Loved the video, will be looking for more of your adventures, and who knows, maybe we will run into you on the lake.

I would recommend you get a trickle charger small solar panel that will keep your starter battery topped up all year round. You have enough empty roof space to install a mini split if you wanted and plenty of room to triple your solar if you wanted to but perhaps you have all you need...It just sucks not getting enough sleep when its really hot in the summer...lastly, I was wondering if you could show the stern drive you used to hook up to the Slant Six, like to know if it was a Chrysler or a mercruiser and just exactly how that came together and of course the prop type and size you are using...thanks cool little lazy summer time boat and great little fishing platform and economical to buy I'm sure

Next to the GM 289 V8, I believe the Chrysler slant 6 was right up there with great longevity and performance, it will outlive the boat.

I don't know you, but this video made me cry. My dad and I lost my mom two years ago, and I know how hard it is. It was just the three of us, and she left a huge hole in our hearts. She was a wonderful wife, mom, and friend, and she never met a stranger. It sounds like Bret was a fun person with a big heart, and I'm so sorry he was taken too soon. Aren't you glad we'll get to see them again when we get to heaven? I know I am. Blessings, Deb in Nashville

Hi markmaue438, Yes I still have the boat. My husband went back to school to be a physician assistant full time for the last 3 years. We've been all over the country with him while he does clinical rotations. He's almost done now and I hope we have a lot more time to enjoy the lake. My daughter and I have also been building a really neat solar powered shanty boat in our downtime. Hope to do some videos on it also. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.

Hi markJones38133, I still have the boat. My husband went back to school to be a physician assistant full time for the last 3 years. Wish I had a little houseboat. You may have mentioned it, but since you are doing boondock water camping, I would go with a 12v / propane frig and a propane small hot water on demand system for the shower and sink. If going on the cheap, get a Cabela's ice chest with some gallon jugs of water frozen and a 1.5 gallon pump sprayer for the shower. The kind you use to spray weeds. but the black bladder shower probably works just fine. I've just never used one. When we beach camp we use a pump sprayer to get the sand and salt off of us.
