Bramble Berry fragrances always have reliable testing notes on their website - that's one of the reasons I enjoy ordering from them! I will say, even if the notes say that the scent behaves, I still always separate and mix in colorants before adding the fragrance. Then if the fragrance causes my batter to misbehave, at least I already have it colored and can just pour.

@@LadybugLaneSoaps I use oil dispersible TD from Elements Bath and Body (now wsp). I mix a large amount at a time with a stick blender (1tsp TD to 2 tsp OO) and keep it in a squeeze bottle with steel bearings. I use it at a ratio of about 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp per cup of soap. I don't have to stick blend it into the batter when using this kind of TD, so it doesn't thicken my batch like water dispersible can 😊

What kind of silk did you add to the solution? Tussah Silk?
@sweethomesoaps48119 ай бұрын
For this one, it was either Tussah or Mulberry. I use peace silk now. Any of them will give a gorgeous silky feel to the bars, I just prefer to use peace silk so that I can be sure that no insects were harmed so that I can have silky soap.

Beautiful soap. If you please, what cutter is that? I like the height on it.
@sweethomesoaps481110 ай бұрын
Thank you! It's from Goodspeed. He's in Russia and has closed his shop. A similar cutter is from soap cutter pro, but it's not as high, unfortunately.
@adriennewot10 ай бұрын
@adriennewot Bummer. Yes, I have one that I like a lot from Soap Cutter Pro, however I have noticed when I want to put a loaf on its side to cut (so I will not damage top design or get tracks in my cut bars), I have to fiddle with the height, angle, blah, blah, so as not to have the loaf moving all over the place when I cut. Thank you😊
@sweethomesoaps481110 ай бұрын
@@adriennewot Unfortunately I don't know of any other soap cutters that are made that way. It's the whole reason I chose this one. 😔
@adriennewot10 ай бұрын
@@sweethomesoaps4811 Yup, well, most of the time mine works well, so, if and when I do some fancy stuff, I will just take the time to cut them one at a time. Most of my soaps are 3 - 5 lb batches. I have not advanced to the beauty of, say, your Cranberry Fig Soap. That is ab-so-lute-ly GORgeous!! I showed my husband the photos and said I wished I could make soap like that. He said, "Does she give classes or do videos?" I laughed. 😊*Heavy sigh*.
@sweethomesoaps481110 ай бұрын
@@adriennewot I love making small batches so that I can add those little touches. Making 15 pounds of soap at once is no joke! The design of the cranberry fig is nothing very special as it's just a drop swirl. It's still difficult to do with a ton of soap! But with 7 pounds, it's doable!

Do you think the tussah silk makes a difference???
@sweethomesoaps4811 Жыл бұрын
I do. I now use Mulberry silk. I use quite a bit more than the "cotton ball size" recommended though. I use 2 grams per 10 bars. I also feel like it helps harden the bars for quicker unmolding, but I haven't heard anyone else say that. 🤷♀️

@sweethomesoaps4811 Жыл бұрын
I'm not a huge fan of the swirls made from the infinity shape. My preferred method is circles going in the same direction, but in different parts of the loaf. Sometimes I'll do 3-4 swirls underhanded on the bottom half of the mold and then 3-4 swirls over handed in the top half of the mold. That makes for more of a butterfly shape that is really lovely!

Have you experienced any crystallization in your citric acid- lye solution or after you have stirred to dissolve and the solution starts to cool down the solution looks slushy at the bottom?
@sweethomesoaps4811 Жыл бұрын
Yes! This has happened before. I decided that the crystallization happens when the citric acid doesn't fully dissolve and I miss it. I started mixing the aloe/citric/sugar for about 30 seconds to a minute, letting it sit for a while, then mixing it again. That seems to have helped.
