992 over 991 no doubt about it. Drive both and you will know. 992 looks and drives a lot better than 991.

Just sold my McLaren 600LT and bought a very low mileage 997.2 manual with brilliant drivers spec, this is the sweet spot, modern day classic, far more engaging than the 991/992, at half the price of a new 992, it’s a no brainer 👍
@VK6AB-2 күн бұрын
991.1 GTS is very much the sweet spot - much better front end. Also own 600LT 😀

Decent comprehensive warranty is a must with 991.2 and also 992 I would say. We will only sell them with full turbo cover including wear & tear cover on them! Cheers

The green really suited the 993, I’m not so sure on the 992. But each to their own. The 991 looks so much prettier than the 992, especially being a wide body.

21:10: Why does everyone think the 992 is so much bigger? Sure, all versions are wide bodied now. But among the wide bodies, there is next to no difference in length or width since the 996, nearly 30 years ago. That was the big jump over the "small" 993.
@MRSPORTSCARSPORSCHE4 күн бұрын
The wheelbase has significantly changed ~10cm, changing how they drive, the wheels are quite a bit bigger now which also changes things. The overall length compared to a 996 is around 9.5cm longer from memory, but I believe mirror to mirror they are pretty similar. The body itself is wider and the mirrors are narrower.
@bad_financial_move9169Күн бұрын
@@MRSPORTSCARSPORSCHE Those are close to my numbers. Around 4" longer in total and in wheelbase. I find that pretty modest. Most cars have grown considerably more than that over the last 25 years.

991.2 is probably the best choice. With easily tunable turbos, but with the best mix of analogue and digital. Nicer looking too I feel than the 992.
@Spaniadrski4 күн бұрын
Agree. Also, although not an important consideration today, the 991.2s incredibly low g/km CO2 (lower than any 911 variant before OR after) will come become a major factor in the not too distant future both from a vehicle tax and emission zone perspective.

It’s more of a grand tourer really, and perfect for what I wanted in a daily. The 997 is a fun change of pace when I get it out. The fact that they are very different is better, for my desires.

I haven't come across this, does your car have the memory seat system. Sometimes the PCM settings have a memory menu to store last settings. If none of the above solves anything then it could be an internal power supply issue on your PCM headunit. I know they do fail (and are repairable). Also if your main car battery is weak this may also impact the settings being stored I guess. Cheers, Raj

I’ve had my 981S Cayman for 10 months. Bought it as a more modern similarly priced alternative to a 997.1; it perhaps has less drama than an older 911, but that’s because it’s so good, so well balanced, and gives nothing away in terms of performance. Friends who have both 911s (991, 997) and Caymans talk about the Cayman handling like it’s on rails, whilst the 911 feels heavier, and by comparison and “handles like a truck”. The Cayman is also a very practical car for luggage with the hatchback, particularly when parked nose in to my relatively small garage. If you have the PDK version, though, get it converted to paddles. The gearbox is excellent but the wheel rocker switches some cars have are rubbish. Paddles transform the driving experience. Useful video, and thanks. But please do something about the microphone.

I bought my 981 Cayman since May 2024 and it has never skipped a beat unlike my 987.2 Cayman that had to go in the garage every month for one issue or the other hence I sold it back to the Indy Porsche. The 981 is a solid car better than the 987.2 mainly in the chassis. I even prefer the electric power steering in the 981 with the gt4 mods, the 981 snaps into position with the agility of a mosquito, the hydraulics in the 987.2 loads up better but it has a slower rack. The 981 is one of the best sounding Porsches on the road, then the economy almost doubles the 987.2. Matt from RennSport Porsche Care in Stevenage said that the 981 is the most reliable Porsche from their vast experience and I can attest to that. Thanks Raj that my favourite colour guards Red!🎉
@MRSPORTSCARSPORSCHE13 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing your insights and I do tend to agree, much simpler ownership experience in terms of maintenance requirements than the slightly older 987.2. Both are great but the 981 seem more resolved for owning now they are that bit older. Cheers

I bought my 2006 Cayman S in 2014 for $25K. It had 79k miles and no one was saying a word about bore score. It is now 10 years later with 114k miles and it uses no oil and runs like a maniac. Fear really has scared people away from these great cars. Sad.

Buying an older car is always a crapshoot. I personally assume the worst when it comes to engine condition. Almost nobody is honest when it comes to the car's overall condition, if they are the seller. No matter the make, buying a later model is always the smart move. Of course most people hang on to the newer stuff.

Actually the way that is shown that’s an old measurement. In order to get a current measurement the car has to be driven like you said until it’s up to temp for me it 194deg coolant temp and 165 degrees oil temp. After it’s up to temp you have to open the rear trunk/boot for 45 seconds until the dash says cannot read oil level at this time. After the 45 seconds close the trunk turn the key on engine off and wait 1 min while on the oil screen and the oil level will update with the current fill level. If you just open the oil menu it’s just and old measurement. It will not update unless you go through the process.
