Artists think they can dye their hair and that’s enough to carry an entire era with a different style. Dua failed at it now Camilla is too. Authenticity is not the only problem. The songs have to sound good too IMO.

If a was Dua's agent i would lean into the Illyrian goddess angle, Anzotica the goddess of love and fertility. Make a hot warrior goddess look and label. raise her up above the standard pop queen. grace and beauty more than what we have seen in the genres. remember she is an idol for many young women too.

she has two of the most streamed albums ever. She achieved so many successes with these two albums. Calling such succes "fluke" or "coincidence" is could be the most ridiculous thing Ive ever heard. At this point, she cannot goes into her flop era with an unsuccessful album. Also, Radical Optimism is not a bad album, but her team had mistakes in PR and promotion.

i believe the rumors that say that the album was originally called ‘vertigo’!! there have been so many hints that would suggest that, like when she changed her previous album covers. she even mentions it in ‘training season’. the album theme and name may have changed half way through, that’s why we have this confusion and incohesiveness

How could ANYONE top Future Nostalgia......AND the remix and deluxe versions of the album were pretty stellar too. That being said Houdini and Training Season are better than any song on Future Nostalgia, but as a whole Future just killed it overall!!

Well done video but i disagree with alot. She has never once said this album is “hyperpop” she has said its heavily inspired by rap and hip hop and miami, music she listened to as she grew up. People just heard the i luv it chorus and assumed thats its hyperpop because it isnt a normal sounding pop song when in reality “i luv it” isnt a hyperpop song at all. Also with her fans she has a great connection with them and they are loving this era which i guess is all that really matters. The hate just overshadows the good. I am intrigued to see how this era for her develops and her next steps after this era

camila has never really been authentic. Camila was the closest album where she shows who she is. Romance was heavily influenced if not copied by other artists like halseys artwork for hopeless fountain kingdom. Copied marina and the diamonds in some songs. she just wants to keep up with the trends to get the attention. it's a no from me

It's so hard to listen to this... it's not objective - it only yours subjective opinion. For me it is a new era - something definitely more natural, more raw, more live instrumentation. It's really hard to understand why people want to say Dua Lipa what is more "new era" form them. It's her way to see that - you can like it or not. But judging it is really wird.

I think your analysis is too literal.... And that's why you're disappointed in Dua, you were expecting something literal: “the song is called Houdini so Dua would have had to have done escapism”. Very sad that you can't see beyond that.

I said this in another r comment section but: It was a huge mistake presenting this album as edgy and having her entire look cosplay that. This album does not give “edgy” not from the themes or even the cover/ album title (which undoubtedly is a huge part of constructing a “story) Edit: like what was really the point of her wearing all black this era and dying her hair red when the album cover and themes aligns with a blue and summery type of theme Edit: glad you touched on this!!

Dua is my favourite artist, but I was disappointed by Radical Optimism. She promised that it would be “psychedelic” and “a tribute to the UK rave scene.” She had Kevin Parker to get it done! But, instead, we have another pop album. Some songs, like Falling Forever, are giving Eurovision. It’s such a missed opportunity! I wish that she’d experimented, taken things darker and trippy.

Give this woman a break. I think we are helping in destroying her career by being over critical. The industry has a lot of politics; some artists are promoted and managed better and some are talented, but don't have the support and Normani is one of them. She is doing her best.

Future Nostalgia was so much more impactful but maybe i'm biased because don't start now is such a good comeback single in comparison to houdini. I still like houdini but it just feels like her collaborators' were the driving force of this era instead of her own vision.. it feels void of dua's personal touch

To be honest , I'm not much of a Dua Lipa fan but I do like most of her hits. I remember during COVID , songs from Future Nostalgia were playing everywhere. I just felt like the singles she's releasing now Houdini , Training Season and Illusion just don't have that spark such as Levitating , Don't Start Now and Break My Heart.

Okay I’m feeling you on this. Music is cool. But world building and visuals are not hitting on this era..
@ItsQueViolette
@ItsQueViolette 28 күн бұрын
As an artist, I’m ngl to you. It’s because it’s damn near impossible and it’s not even worth it. TikTok made music and everything around it extremely dispensable. This means that somebody will immediately move on after seeing something, so if you world build it’s unlikely you’ll get a return on investment when you could’ve just made content. So even tho I love world building, I see why it doesn’t work anymore. Audiences say they care but they really don’t lmao it’s dopamine addiction. Scroll scroll scroll. So even when people try it, it doesn’t work No offense in any of this btw, this is just coming from someone behind the scenes and why ur seeing what ur seeing I agree btw.

Rlyyyy I feel like Chappell Roan’s world building is just so good, she said once she started to world build that’s when she blew up!! But yes we deffo are In a different climate to a few years ago where ppl move on so fast🥲
@ItsQueViolette
@ItsQueViolette 28 күн бұрын
@@ViDEOGiRLX2 I agree they’re definitely amazing at world building, but they also had to STARVE for forever in order for that world building to actually have a return on investment, when you have people making reels & tiktoks eclipsing that in a year (ofc it probably won’t be as sustainable as roan because they built something very solid) BUT it’s a huuuuge gamble when it comes to trying to be a successful artist! It’s like… do you want to eat now or starve for 6 years and possibly never get your chance because you invested in something that 90% of music listeners no longer pay attention to👀 I am so glad it worked out for Roan but holy, the other million artists world building did nothing for makes it a hard sell in 2024 Maybe when audiences attention spans come back ☠️
@ItsQueViolette
@ItsQueViolette 28 күн бұрын
@@ViDEOGiRLX2 also, again not taking anything away from Chappell they’re amazing and ofc had to start over and over working as a barista and such, BUT, you HAVE to have a budget to world build. Roan got a publishing deal in order to fund her amazing world building If you don’t have the funds to world build you’re fk’d I’m friends with a few artists like Max Madly who is an Amazing makeup effects and media designer that can do worldbuilding all by herself But again it’s just extremely unrealistic unless you have a huge budget. And even labels now don’t want to invest in it So how is an artist supposed to world build with no world to build from
@ViDEOGiRLX2
@ViDEOGiRLX2 28 күн бұрын
@@ItsQueViolettetotally feel you in terms of labels - so many of them sign ppl off tik tok virality and its not sustainable unless the artist is some marketing genius!!! I've seen it with friends who had viral moments, got signed and then were shelved by labels after the labels wanted them to keep making the same song over and over so they could go viral again.... its deffo is rough being an artist. I also think world building is what you make it! You can totally world build with 0 budget in my opinion, you just have to be xtra creative.If you are rich and have the biggest budget but 0 creativity the world building won't just appear! Like lana del rey's MV for 'Video Games'! I think that video is iconic and totally still works for her world today and was made with 0 budget. If being lofi and low budget is all you can afford, make that part of your world/aesthetic! so many people these days are trying to get the 'vintage' look with old camcorders etc anyway :) Getting labels to invest is the hard part these days tbh...but i have my personal opinions about labels haha and for the most part I think the only Label i really see believing in and building artists from the ground up consistently is XL Recordings! But yes working in any creative industry you usually have to starve and it SUCKS :/ but I like to believe that the ones who make it are the ones who just dont stop as long as it takes (not including the nepo babies lol) eg. raye, chappell roan, anderson paak, central cee, bill withers 🍏😊
