Re-watched it and is still worth to watch it more than effortless TikTok/YT shorts garbage contents you have nowdays, and most modern series like Velma, Lightyear, and Halo TV show that are utter woke trash.

Imagine this being followed by the franchises of Gundam, Transformers, The Orville, and Starcraft meeting each other and having their own adventure together. I could see that ending with them meeting the heroes from this film, and they form a multiverse alliance to protect it from the characters from Warhammer 40K running amuck across the multiverse.

The actual most unrealistic thing about this is the utter lack of emotion and snarky comments from Han and Leia when the hyperdrive didn’t work

Modern sci-fi cinema should have focused on crossovers instead of identity politics. We used to do this as kids with our favorite action figures and toys.

"To a Space station behind one of Jupiter's moons" A gas giant and a space station, i was darn expecting Babylon-5 or Ticonderoga (starship-troopers) I even would have settled for DS9 even if we already had Star-Trek. My disappointment was high.

Honestly would have been cool if the Star Wars group was Anakin or Obi-Wan on a Venator. I understand the Imperial would confuse them, but I dont think that would matter here.

Really interesting to see how the movie was made! This was both the best short and the best grunge sci-fi I have seen in a long time! This is by no means meant as a criticism of the movie,, just an observation, that might come in handy in future projects. I didn't notice it in the movie, so in that sense, the scene worked, but when I watched it more closely here, I must say that when she approaches with the bat, her left arm below the elbow does look wrong, the arm seems bent unnaturally, that just seems off.
@calvinromeyn24 күн бұрын
Fair point! We definitely had to pick our battles with letting certain things go, and investing the time in the details I thought were most critical. Glad you enjoyed the short and the making of!
@cykkm24 күн бұрын
I couldn't imagine how much work went into this short! I'm feeling an utterless, inexplicable connection. I killed a perfectionist in me long ago, and for a good reason: in science, nothing can ever be completed, of course, even less to perfection. When you're feeling you may come up with something radically new, it's black and white: you either succeed or it just doesn't happen. When you productize applied science, the result is code, and any code will be obsolete in a few years. But sometimes I let myself at large, and go above and beyond, just because. Or write my heart out in music: there I can perfectionise as much as I want, if only keeping in mind « Le Chef-d’œuvre inconnu » by Balzac as a cautionary tale. :-) And I just heard a story of going for the best of the best. Oh, man, I envy you! That's a true work of love! I'm wondering, why you've decided against the vocoder for the robots' voices? The first ones, in the 70's, were fully analog-they came out of '60s telephony research! The modern digital ones may have as many carrier bands and formant filters as you want. The spectral resynthesis software can do it, of course, and more. It's mostly used for remastering when stems are unavailable, but it's kinda finicky for special effects like this, while manipulating voice with a vocoder seems very natural.
@calvinromeyn24 күн бұрын
Dang I should have talked to you about the robot vocoder sound fx :) The only reason we dialed the voice effects back was because when we did test screenings of the film, the main critique everyone gave was that they couldn't hear the dialogue well enough. It was far more important to me to have intelligable dialogue than a cool effect. Even though I looooved the Speak and Spell effect.
