Everyone in the comment section is commenting on Brambell's "English" accent. That "All I can say is, I don't believe it" is Dublin with a capital D. The rest, admittedly, is rp, but he was from that generation that strove to speak in such a manner.

Wilfred Brambell was an amazing character actor and never teally got the credit he deserved in my opinion. Hearing him speak you’d never think it was the same person. In the days when actors had talent, nowadays half of them just play themselves.

Brambell played Scrooge in 1966 on the stage and in a BBC radio adaptation. If you get the chance, please listen to it. Wilfrid was a fine actor. This is rather sad.

Yeah I thought that, Sarah. For two actors who (apparently) didn't get along, they seem to be having some good banter here; their body language seems jovial, not hostile

Galton and Simpson have steadfastly denied that they hated each other and said that whilst they came from two different walks of life and never socialised together, and did disagree over certain things, they never had any significant or lasting arguments and worked well together. I saw an interview with Harry H Corbett’s daughter who also denied any significant fall-outs and that they both respected one another enormously.

Poor Wilfrid had a terrible time on this set. The wig kept falling off and he refused to show up for rehearsals. By this stage of his career the booze had completely taken over and he was reduced to this bastardisation of Ebenezer Scrooge
