Listen, I don't believe "People are just stupid." You have to know that, even for you, it is impossible to know everything about everything. I think folks, generally, make the best decision they can at the time, based on what they know at the time. When I grew up, knowledge and education were core values. Our parents pushed us into colleges and professions to have opportunities they did not have. The climate we have today is that experts are not to be trusted. Smoking is good for you! Lead is fine in gasoline and paint. All these things were false at the time they were being espoused yet experts were shunted aside. Even you used to espouse the waste of getting an RV inspection on new units, even though you've reverse course now. So, folks purchasing an RV, especially for the first time, need guidance, but may not know they need it, or where to get it. Seems to me the best course of action is for state regulators to require dealers to provide disclosures on hiring an inspector, their current warranty service wait times, manufacturer track records, etc. Protecting consumers, sometimes, can be augmented by state regulators and/or The CFPB. PS - I am one of those "hundreds of thousands of people who want to buy an RV waiting on the sidelines..."

After going through cub scouts and Webelos, my first year of Boy Scouts started. My first BS outing was planting 10,000 pine saplings behind the old Union Carbide factory in Anmoore, WV. I was hot, mad, and wondered when the fun was supposed to start! I loved my previous years in scouts, but after that first outing I decided to quit. I remember being quite upset about that decision once I thought about it, and later backtracked, ultimately reaching Eagle a few years later, being part of the OOA group and joining some Explorer clubs as a young adult. During my time in scouting we planted over 100,000 saplings throughout WV. Reclaimed mine sites, farms, etc. We stopped erosion and the spread of toxic waste on hundreds of acres of reclaimed sites, and, 50 years later, those trees are house-sized now. "Growing up is hard" they say, but that was what happened when I decided to put in the work and time, and have the enjoyment too, which, basically, is the balance of a good life.

Time to stop buying RVs. We just bought a used class c motorhome. It is our last RV. We are going to maintain it and put upgrades in it to make it our own and we will drive and use it until the wheels fall off. People need to boycott the RV industry.

How to kill the rv industry

People keep bashing Thor but Thor keep itself as the absolute leader in motorhome sales.... and for a reason.... We bought a brand new Hurricane 34R back in August 2020 (model year 2021), therefore "covid" build" and while the entire full wall slide system had to be replaced because the factory installed it out of schwintek system tolerance (the replacement was made at the dealer and under warranty, so no cost for us), the only other issue we had was a leak at the shower that was solved with a lil bit of silicone glue (same issue we had in our previous Rockwood (higher quality???) pull behind...). Currently our motorhome has 25K miles on it and previous to this motorhome we had two Rockwoods that, to us, seems to have one of the best quality builds in the pull behind market and our perception, based on 10+ years of rving experience (4 with the Hurricane) is that Thor quality is not too much different from a top tier(?) build like Rockwood.... Maybe the amount of problems reported on Thor products is a function of their higher volume??? I'm not defending Thor nor excusing them for having problems BUT, based on our experience, we would/will(?) buy a Thor product again. That being said, the dealer we deal with is a local family owned business that do care to do a real/good PDI and fix things... Maybe THIS, a good dealer, is the aggravation factor in bad stuff being delivered to the customer(???)

Wouldn’t even consider anything from Thor. They have a track record that shows their true colors

It isn't only Thor product. It is Forest River as well. No Nobody will step up and do anything. So The R V industry should fold than will be too late. Law suite you are wasting your money. No money no business will hurt more.

My buddy just took his 2022 east to west 5th wheel in after the warranty was out and they not only fixed his issue for free and they put 5 slide toppers on without even asking him just to be doing it but it gets better, they came to Texas from Indiana picked it up and brought it back from Indiana all for free

I wouldn’t buy a Thor RV if they gave it to me at 90% off, they just clapboard put together they make junk and once they get your money when you try to get your warranty, taken care of you could be in California and they’ll tell you to bring the RV to New York as an exampleonce they have your money, you are stuck

We’ve just purchased from CW before seeing this video, and the others out there. Does no one read their buyers order? Ask interest rates? The salesman was professional, we told him our budget and he stayed in the range and options. I flat out told them I wouldn’t finance at their ridiculous rate, (credit score was over 800) so NOPE. Check your credit union for the best rate.

I was talking to my father one day and asked with all the traveling we did when I was younger why he never bought an RV, he said I thought about it but decided I could buy a whole lot of motel rooms for 100k!

I have a 2025 Salem view with issues. I have multiple issues from AC not working poor workmanship.

Alan, this is OT, but can you give us an episode, maybe a collaboration, on how much a Class B devalues during each of the first five years? Ballparks, rough ballparks, just guesstimates. Aside from the 20% (?) it loses as doon as you sign the papers? Big financial mistakes like depreciation...or buying a brand that doesn't hold value, can leave big financial scars. With today's market, keeping the car, using motels, and never having to sweep the floor is really starting ti look like much smarter economics. Sadly so.

When you’re a lone female the dealers don’t take negotiating seriously!!! When your a lone older female & you try to negotiate a used unit from a private dealer, they try to lord things over you & refuse to provide a non refundable deposit while your waiting to get a qualified inspection . . Or agree to it then sell it out from under cause someone came along not requiring an inspection.

My when I bought my RV, I didn’t have a inspector that was in 2010 I have learned a lot our RV had a leak. I did not realize to a year down the road.

Just saw that Governor Newsom DID sign the bill. Not good news for RVers according to Ron Burdge. I plan on getting with him again soon for his take on the situation and if we can expect to see a ripple effect elsewhere. Newsom is going to do whatever he can to help himself and his friends. He doesn't care about anyone else. Bills should not be modifiable to something they didn't start as. Bills should support 1 idea at a time, not be merged. That's how politicians get laws that passed when people are not even aware.

Instead of wasting time with the legislative process, why not explain how the proposed bill changes existing law?

I am a lifelong Californian and ashamed to say Gavin Newsome will most certainly sign this bill into law. I am sure he is completely aware of its contents and how it was gutted and amended. This sort of thing has been commonplace under his administration and the left-wing-dominated California legislature. Nonetheless, I told him not to sign this bill via the governor's website. Interestingly phone calls attempted to voice my opinion are immediately dropped! So I can't even leave a message. This man is toxic for all of California and our nation. Kamala worked for/with him just before becoming VP. Scarry!!

They are called “Shell Bills”. Illinois and I’m sure other states do the same thing. They take a Bill on any subject then gut it at the last minute and put other stuff in it. The anti Second Amendment politicians in IL due it all the time. It’s a sneaky way of getting what you want passed because nobody is paying attention. People want to complain about lobbyists, but it’s these same lobbyists that catches this crap and informs the public. Welcome to politics people.

That same year, I was looking for a 35k and was the same year RVs were hard to get. The Tampa RV show had a six to nine month or longer waiting list. I found this one on their website and wanted to come see it. I live several hours away so they required me to put a $5,000 deposit down to hold it so I could see it. Once there, the salesman knew very little about the unit and they tried to pressure me to buy it, two year old 35K but I walked away because I felt they were wanting to get rid of it. I ran a CarFax on it and found out it had been in an accident with major front end damage, and that was not disclosed to me. It took a fight to get my money refunded to me so that really showed me what kind of dealership they really were. They shouldn’t be in business !!

Honestly, I live in California, and I would like to complain about the grandfathering of old RV’s into parks; not just in California, but national wide! Also RV Wingman; I don’t think your associate knows how to explain the law realistically.

Wingman if they come out with new lemon law, people would stooped buying vehicle from California and Rv’s and go to another state that has better law. For some one who pays 600,000. For Rv and they come out with that stupid law, what about the stars that live out that buy these exotic vehicle and they think they would buy those vehicle out there. They would so much money people not buying there .

Thor has destroyed a whole raft of manufacturers. I would never by a Thor product. I've ended-up converting a van and a trailer myself.

That's exactly why we left California 2 years ago after living there for 68 years. There are rumors of an exit tax up to 10 years if you leave California after working there. Beautiful state, but screw balls running it. To bad!
