My wife passed in Germany with me last year. Had a storage room 10x20 with all our belongings went home this year, Gave it all away and sold the car after I drove to Tennessee only had a carload I put into my 5th wheel . Felt good to dump it all! So now when I pass the only thing family needs to do is hook up the RV ( with my supplied truck) and take off, everything I now own is in it. I’m sure everyone is going to say when I’m gone. Damn glad he did that, he was sooooo smart! 😊

I gave All my fishing poles, gear, fillet knives, tackle tackle boxes etc to my handyman. I haven’t fished in years, and he has 3 grandkids that are just getting into it with gramps. Ya could’ve sold it, but felt good going to a family that will use it. I had some nice stuff. . . .

First most importantly - how is your wife doing? I've been slowly down sizing for a few years. It's amazing how much we collect over the years. My husband and I have been watching you for years. I found out you had sold your campground when I went in to book a reservation. I love how you end your videos: ...and don't leave your good manners at home! Thank you!

THAT was one of the things I was gonna cover . . . It is sooo easy to carry too much stuff in our units “just in case”. BTW, I’m in the middle of purging at my house!! It’s being done in “layers “ . . ;-)

You are so correct. We have a 23 foot travel trailer that has a good amount of storage. We just purchased a used Class C from Cruise America and it's 25 feet. So now we are putting our upgrades in the Class C from the travel trailer, and we are transferring our camping gear from the trailer to the Class C. We have way too much camping gear, so I am getting rid of anything we don't need and donating it to a veteran's organization. This process will probably take several weeks, as I need to clean my trailer and get it prepped for sale. It does feel good getting rid of crap you don't need.

ABSOLUTELY, bee ruthless, dump it. Declutter, true much of OUR STUFF won't mean much to those we leave to clean it up. Sentimental items are hard to part with so donate to charity, goodwill, animal shelters, or the dump..AMEN, THANKS ALEN WELL SAID.

Hey Wingman, last year I lost my father, he died from hip replacement surgery that didn’t take. Immediately after arriving at my Dad’s trailer; not mobile home, my Dad had a storage shed that was packed full of crap! Fishing poles, rods and reels, and tons of camping gear. My Dad lived about an hours drive to Tioga Pass; shortcut to Yosemite National Park. Dad was a former Navy vet from the Korean War, but he had every free camping pass and tons of maps. We sold everything, but now I do have regrets about some of the stuff that we parted with, because I want to travel the open road and visit BLM camp grounds.

Sorry about your loss. Don’t have regrets. It’s just material stuff that doesn’t really matter. 😁

My Dad built a cabinet when he was a kid, that has two doors that swing open he used for his horse Silver and rabbits he raised. It sets in the top of my garage and I just can’t get rid of it knowing he hand built it.

My wife wants to move to be closer to our son. I look at all the tools and equipment that I'd have get rid of and I just don't want to. Plus I like the way my life is now and don't want to start over again in a new place. I do feel sorry for my kids for when I die they'll have to get rid of it all. I like my independence with the stuff I have to do things on my own.

I got a lot of family, Bibles, and books from my uncle and my mother do not know I did not know if my kids would want any of it

If no one you know wants it, hospitals still take donations for their library carts. Think outside the box, there is always someone looking for an old book. Maybe a retirement or assisted care facility.
