My connect on the pc board is a round 9pin din. Not a a 6pin flat?
@beolovervideos17 күн бұрын
Do you have a Type 550x Beogram 4002? They use a round tube socket on the output board. In general, I am not a fan of RCA conversions anymore. I would recommend putting a decent all-metal DIN5 with gold plated pins on the original cable and then use a short DIN5-to-RCA adapter. DIN cables are superior to RCA since they are better shielded. Also this approach preserves the original setup of the Beogram, which is better for preserving the value of the unit. Reply

very cool! only about an hour after a belt replacement, yesterday my 4002 started running at only 20% speed.. I feel no specific friction in the sytem. Will the SyncDrive fix any speed related issues or is it likely I have to replace other components? :/
@beolovervideos21 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching my video! Most Beogram 4002/4004 with DC motors have RPM issues due to dry motor bearings. The SyncDrive bypasses all the motor related circuitry, i.e. it will solve the problem even if the RPM relay or the RPM trimmers are problematic due to oxidation etc...

Excellent video. Just a point - when dismantling my machine the swing arm at 5'12" was very sticky - probably the main problem. It needed degreasing and relubricating with high-viscosity oil. Also when reassembling the top deck, make sure the spring (4'29") doesn't get caught below the deck. Also the brake pads all fell off! The point about the top oil fence going on the upper side of the capstan shaft has already been made - again a smear of low-viscosity oil won't go amiss here. Thanks again - saved me a lot of time.

Found that device together with a Revox B690 on a high shelf in my brothers kitchen. He bought it secondhand together with 2 B&W DM70s in 1980. The turntables were there on that shelf for more than 3 decades. I asked him what kind of devices it were, couldn't see it but when i heard it were a B&O and a Revox turntable i was surprised and very curious to try it. Started with the Revox but when i powered it a capacitor went up in smoke causing a disgusting smell, the B&O worked but the liftingmechanisme didn't work. Took them to my home bike>train>bike. Removed the blown capacitor and the Revox with Shure 97 worked well it seemed but after some time the arm suddenly started to return after just 1 or 2 minutes. Opened the device and i saw 3 Ptc's, two looked ok, one looked terrible, degraded, think 50% was gone, broken off. The others looked OK but might be faulty too. This might be the cause of the unwanted returning of the tone-arm. It's a project i have to finish, think it's best to replace those three and the el-capacitors on that board. The B&O works well after i cleaned and lubricated the arm mechanism, the belt was in a great condition, no degradation during those 30 years standstill. In the beginning the device had some annoying speedvariations after playing 16 til 18 minutes of the record but that solved itself and i don't know how. Reading this story, should i recap the big main capacitors?
@beolovervideos9 ай бұрын
The speed variations will most likely come back. In the beginning they are intermittent, and then it gets worse. We usually replace all electrolytic capacitors when we restore a Beogram. See here for an example (scroll down a bit - this post discusses our entire restoration process): beolover.blogspot.com/2024/03/beogram-4002-functional-restoration.html.

If I want to plug my Beogram 4000 into my amp which has a line in (non-B&O), will I then need a preamp? I will of course need a DIN to RCA but not sure what the audio level is at this point
@beolovervideos10 ай бұрын
Yes, you would need a preamp! The Beolover has an elegant solution for that: beolover.blogspot.com/2023/03/beogram-4000-internal-RIAA-pre-amplifier.html. Get in touch at [email protected] if you would like to get one.

Thank you so much for this PRICELESS tutorial!! I was able to fix my non-lowering 4004 arm thanks to this tutorial, so easy to follow. Just for the record, in my case the solenoid was moving okay-ish, the damper was the element entirely stuck so I detached that alone (with its implied joint mechanism), opened it, cleaned it, lubricated it, and now it works very well. I didn't want to have to desolder the solenoid even though I understand it would be ideal to do it, it's on my to-do list for another summer. Thank you once again, you're incredibly knowledgeable and the fact that you decide to just share this is truly amazing, much respect to you sir.

Thanks for your efforts. I love your videos. I have a few questions: 1. Have you ever seen a case where the shaft holding the pinch roller becomes loosened, so much so that you can remove the shaft from it's mount? 2. If, God forbid, you happen to loose one of the "friction reducing washers", might you have a suggestion for replacing it? Cheers, re5513

I have had a whole line of these decks, and they sound really great. More so the 9000 model. So, when this was new, it was highly acclaimed, but often criticized as being cheaply built and simple built, nowhere near Nakamichi. Well, the truth of the matter is, that Naks often break down, Beocord 9000 don't do that often. Naks loose caps more often and many, I mean many, parts of the Nak's drive is plastic, where as on the Beocord, near all is metal. Much more sturdy. I prefer the Beocord and the Tandberg sound, which in my humble view is more natural and more full. Naks tend to sound a bit thin and recordings from Naks don't often play well on other decks. And the phone outlet on the Beocord sounds better as well. I have sold my Nak's and keep my Pioneer CT91a, my Tandberg TCD-3014a and want a Beocord 9000 again. And it's dead easy to service. Thanks for posting such good vedeios. Kind regards.

Hello, I just bought a Bang & Olufsen Beogram 7000 turntable with built in preamp, it has a Din 5-pin male connector, how do I hook it up to a regular system with RCA input jacks? Do I need to get an RCA cable with a ground cable? I wasn’t sure because this deck has a built in preamp. Thanks in advance.
@-triumphgt667 Жыл бұрын
The Beogram 7000 has a built in RIAA so produces line level so can attach to a normal line in input. The plug is actually a 7 pin DIN but the two bottom pins can be unscrewed. It should work without an earth cable but if you get a hum, a wire between the casing of the DIN plug and the earth will fix it.

Hello Rudy, thanks for this video, helped me a lot to understand whats going on with my BG4000, sadly ruined an MMC20E cartridge because the arm started to move in reverse mode while the needle was on the record and snapped off the tip of the stylus. I'm still not sure why this happened as the aperture never been adjusted before, screw in factory position with the original paint dot seal on it. This is driving me crazy because everything looks okay, tonearm is paralel with the sensor arm , when Im moving the tonearm by hand invards to the center of the record the tracking motor advancing in the right direction. What I am missing ? Do you have an advice what I need to check ?

Thanks so much for the video; huge help. (I found that the opening of an 11mm Craftsman socket nested inside 5/8” socket made a perfect backer for that upper bearing retainer, when it was time to crimp its ears from above.)
