That time the coffee shack wouldn't take my cash, but eagerly took my Goldbacks 😄🪙 Took a trip out to my storage unit in Redmond, right next door to my favorite coffee shack. Florida is the land of no decent coffee so I was ravenous about this first coffee back in WA. But, forgot my wallet 😩 I did have a hundred dollar bill with me from a cat sitting job, but the barista couldn't take it! So I held up a couple Goldbacks I keep in my glove box and asked, "Well, how about a couple Goldbacks?". The barista was suspicious at first and asked if it was some kind of wonky crypto currency. "Nope, not crypto, they're an alternative currency made of laminated gold. They're 1/1000 of a troy ounce of gold each, market value is about $5 each right now." (I paid $3.50 a piece 6 months ago, bought 45 Goldbacks and wish I had bought a whole lot more!) At which point the barista eagerly snatched them out of my hand, excitedly showing them to the other baristas and told me I could have anything on the menu I wanted (a jumbo decaf iced latte, half Irish cream half coconut 🤤 yes, you should try this flavor combo). According to Murray Rothbard, Gresham's law really goes like this: "money overvalued artificially by government will drive out artificially undervalued money." So this video is correct because the non silver quarters are overvalued by government decree, and the silver quarters are undervalued money by government decree, and Gresham's law does not apply to Goldbacks because there is no dollar denomination on them. The Goldback maker's did their homework well!

These look great, the idea in concept is good, but if you buy 1,000 of these to equal the value of 1oz gold coin, this doesn't make any sense. You are pay 2x the amount, you are literally throwing away money. Sure have one or 2 as a collectable, but until the figure out how to bring the price down its best to stick with silver for smaller transactions (if it came to it). As with anything these people need competition, and perhaps that way the price can go down, markup is way to much.

I started buying goldbacks about 2 years ago, and the price is up around 35%. I hold them mainly for investment and SHTF scenarios, but have spent some at NH businesses just to see how the process works. I've found most places actually excited to accept them and the process is simple. There is a calculator on the goldback website where the price is frequently updated. It tells the cashier how many goldbacks you need to cover the bill and how much change to provide. If you want to pay partially with GBs and another method, the calculator can also compute how more you owe based on the number of GBs provided. To sweeten the deal, the notes are beautiful works of art based on the history of the subject state, so they make excellent gifts. Virtually all precious metal dealers are now selling them. Shop around online - prices can vary somewhat.

It's bad money when you have such a price markup on these things. These things aren't necessarily a scam, but when you mark up these prices, they're just making money off you while you scramble over the FUD they sell you.

Gold is a soft metal and can be easily scribed off. With a simple scale you can have the same. It's easier to keep track of One piece rather than multiple pieces. It's a whole lot easier to test a piece of gold than it is to test a piece of paper with gold for qualiy. I've already seen fake ones reproduce myself.

The value when selling is the value someone is willing to take them for and for what I've seen its usually lower than the "average exchange rate". It would be nice if this average exchange rate would be taken at face value like the spot price of gold is that way there's no guessing on what other people would take them for when it comes to spend them or sell them. Btw, I'm not talking about preciou metals dealers selling them, it's obvious they set their own prices and for the most part they are selling or asking at above the average exchange rate so I'm talking about anyone who owns goldbacks and how much will they get for them at any location.

So with a 100% premium that means something that costs $100 actually cost $200 using goldbacks correct? And if you pay with goldbacks and need change it will be in US dollars? Which means you actually got HALF of your change back?

I am new and as a prepper i like the idea but there is huge premium on each gold back. So if i spent this in a buisness, basically i would be eating the 2$ loss on the premium on each goldnote? Or is the premium also pushed in understandment onto the business where the purchase is being made? 2ndly wouldn't this also be hedging a bet vs the us dollar going into hyfperinflation? (I understand its a fiat dollar eventually its hoing to fail) Www3 is more than likely to happen first. Gold would have to basically double right? Atm gold =2350$ per oz. The govt would have to be in a complete collapse to see gold reaching 5000$ an oz. Id buy if the premium was passed onto the next holder of me spending my goldbacks. Please explain if im missing or not understanding something.

My problem is the price! The premium is not worth it for someone living paycheck to paycheck. I’m gonna talk my 100 year old grandfather to buy Goldback for his youngest great grandkids to keep, instead of putting there money in the stock market give them Goldbacks’s.
