When a business is signed up it will be put on our network. If a local network gets big enough we will push out a series to be used there. Why not just create a goldback that spans the country and can be traded anywhere rather than state by state?

This is actually a question we get quite a bit. 1. The Goldback can be traded anywhere. It is legal to use anywhere in the USA. So far in the states we have made it has been called a "Voluntary Local Currency" and a "Voluntary Negotiable Instrument" the key word being voluntary. It is everyone's choice wether they want to use it or not. So you can use it in Ohio, Texas, Hawaii, California, etc. It all comes down to if the merchant will take it. We can't force anyone to use these. In New Hampshire the Utah Goldback became so popular that someone over there actually helped us make one for them. So there was a huge demand for that product before it even came out. 2. We don't make an America Goldback so we can be covered by federal and state laws. As it currently stands using gold for barter is covered under the US Constitution, Article 1, section 10, clause which allows "gold and silver coin a tender for payment of debts.” And all the states have their own laws regarding the use of gold. By being a local currency we are covered by multiple layers of laws. So if someone wanted to tear down Goldbacks they would have to change laws at the federal level and the state level. One of the hurtles we jump to make a new state Goldback is making sure we are in compliance with all state laws, this could mean changing some of the wording on that series of Goldbacks. If we were to make a national one we would have to make it in compliance with every state law. This would take a lot of time and effort and could be blocked by just one state.

The reasoning behind having state specific Goldbacks is to keep this currency local. A local currency is protected by federal and state laws. When we roll out a new state's Goldback we check state laws regarding currency and metals so we can conform with them. One example of this is the Utah series is labeled as a "Voluntary Local Currency" whereas the New Hampshire series is a "Voluntary Negotiable Instrument". If we were to make an America Goldback we will lose that state protection and are subject purely to federal laws. So basically we are just trying to be as cautious as possible.

@@TheRookie330 Yep, when Goldbacks were in development we had a legal team go through the liberty dollar, gold standard and other precious metal based currencies so we could lean from their mistakes so we wouldn't be making them ourselves.
