I'm adopting an 8 months cane corso cross penna. Any advise would be appreciated. Is it going to be difficult to gain his trust after him being given away and him coming to live in new surroundings.

Hi buddy, I'm based in righton in the south east, I wad wondering if you do 1 21 training at all, I'm happy to travel, if you could send me some contact details that would be great, where are you based? I have a 9 month old cane corso named Bella who would benefit from a bit more training, I hope to hear back from you ASAP kind regards, Mark 😊

@willatherton We have a bitch Cane Corso and she is so nervous on the lead in busy places. Pretty much scared of everything with wheels, noises, groups of people but to the point that all her senses stop working. Doesn’t listen at all, food has no affect, she’s just in fight or flight mode. She’s 16 months old and we’ve had her since she was 11 months and made sure we have socialised her regularly but it’s getting no better. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The Rottweiler is my favorite dog breed. Although I respect and acknowledge the Cane Corso's abilities. I'm not a fan of mastiff looking dogs like the English and Bull mastiff breeds. So it's mainly for me a superficial thing. My neighbor has a very majestic black Cane Corso and he's a big boy and surprisingly very gentle and doesn't really want any of my Rottweiler, Boxer, Amstaff mix. My dog is extremely powerful yet at just 24" at the shoulders and 85lbs. 😅 He has a Rottweilers head on a Boxers body, so he's extremely athletic and has a strong bite hold. Most Rottweilers are big babies when they are with their families and are very gentle with children. Both breeds are very loyal, lovable and intelligent. You can't go wrong with either breed if well socialized and properly trained in a loving and confident leading household. These strong breeds demand solid leadership and won't accept anything less or they will take over that position quickly.

Both these dogs need eat like king, you need to maintain a healthy diet. And you need a big yard/garden for them to stay active and protect. Smart dogs

I brought my Corso home at 8 weeks. We did the tough love approach. It took 15 days for her to calm down in her crate at night. It was intense and stressful for everyone. I’m so glad we are past it now.

Hi Will, I just acquired a puppy that’s about 7 weeks old and I’m told he’s about half Pitt bull and part bull mastif boxer mix. I saw a picture of a sibling that about 100lb not fully grown. Both were runts of the litter. A friend just mentions he thought mine might be part Cane Corso. But I understand they look similar. I will do embark to test the geneology. Till then I’m dealing with a cute and sometimes very loving but slightly defiant pup. He bonded with me the moment I met him at 4 weeks, he would not take his eyes off of me and gave kisses when I made kusssing noises when he was in my arms. So cute and what a sweet dog, he loves affection and is just so sweet when he’s loved 🥰 with some gif sweet gestures but wow can he get a fighting temperament going when aroused. I have to ignore him much if the time to bring out his loyal sweet side, if I ignore him entirely he follows me around lays at my feet and like my toes. If I watch him from a distance he seems mistrustful and can become agitated. He’s easily triggered by moving brushing gestures and I have to talk him through explain every movement I’m going to make with him (not sure if that’s the Pitt bull in him. I would like to have some advice on training with regards to his biting and playful nursing knawing latching on types of haviors and I need help right away to be sure I’m training him right. I’m a somewhat lite-weight female about 5’’5” and 120lb and I know that soon he’s going to really need to remember my appropriate handling of him as a puppy to do his job. I’ve had him since 5 weeks, nursed him with a bottle for a couple of weeks on puppy formula (supplement to puppy chow) and he was really wanting to be mouthy and biting my arm a lot, now he lunges and tries to bite at everything, my legs, my hands, feet etc… and I’ve taken to some stern disciplining putting him in time out in another room till he calms down, but I’m not sure if the strong approach is working because he sometimes get pissed and defiant, angry and fights. It can behind a battle and at his size only 10lb I ca handle him now but well in a fem months I’m going ti really need help if I don’t get the biting, barking lunging and climbing trays resolved. I’ve got bite marks all over my arms and it’s not so bad right now, I can still talk him out of most serious biting but well, if he ever bit me as a full grown dog I would really have to reassess the situation. For his sake since he bonded with me first and he’s really quite connected to me already can you provide some advice on how to manage training for him re the biting thing. Thanks. I enjoyed the video.

Does anyone know how you tell how the jowl will develop when choosing a puppy? Keen to pay attention to the traits that will ensure he has jowls that slightly hang over the sides vs the more open mouth look.

My Cane Corso loves her crate. She is now two and it's her room. She will go in throughout the day to nap. I think alot of people get intoduction/training wrong and it makes it look terrible. Especially if the viewer hasn't raised and trained dogs.

I wouldn’t say easy to train. If you’re a mush this dog will boss you around easily. These dogs need a strong alpha type personality to command them. Otherwise they’re just playing with you. For example.. I can walk my dog easily, no pulling but I bet the girl in the video will dragged by him at 140 lbs he prob weighs more than her. But that doesn’t mean he’s not gentle. He understand my 2 year old nephew is to be protected and he does. Just that these dogs will always be testing you unless you’re his boss

I kept my Corso on a house leash until she earned my trust. My girl was connected to my hip from 9 weeks until she turned 1 year. I corrected any unwanted behavior right there on the spot. My girl is almost. 3 and you'll think she was trained by a professional trainer. She's still attached to my hip, and I no longer keep her on the leash. All it takes is time and patience with your pup. Build a bond with your dog, and they will listen and try their best to always please us. Just build a positive bond, and everything is a piece of cake.

That said, adult adopted dog did insist on taking up most of the bed at first, then resigning to be on the end of the bed. Then when I bought her her own couch she would growl in her sleep as I approached for a glass of water ( this did only last for a month, and I woke her up to let her know it was me). But seriously lovely loyal affectionate dog. But to get then off the bed you have to push with both legs😂

Selective breeding AND a major move to raw meat or high grade kibble. I know mine has major and obvious reactions with ANY kibble with grain. The grain is a no go with ANY dog but with a dog that has a large bulk you can not feed them junk ever

I don't believe any of those benefits of cropping and docking are true. And, frankly, those floppy ears look so much better. My GSD loves walking with me in the rain and he folds his ears to stop water filling his earways. I can't imagine what a cropped dog would do. What is the pride of showing off how you mutilated your dog? I would be ashamed. Ban this cruelty.

Garbage history that's what they tell the new comers to the breed the real history is out there for those who are interested There utility farm dogs Catch Hunt Heard Guard Protect And yes the old farmers way way back would fight the dogs to decide what male they would breed to....... They were farmers they raised animals they lived in nature they understand the power of doing things like nature in nature animals compete for breeding that's just reality
