FIND A GOOD MENTOR. This really can't be emphasized enough. Especially for the really high, exceptionally highly performers. The ones that achieved a high performance/level/status without much, if any mentoring or help from their seniors or predecessors. But everyone is human and everyone hits that wall where, without a guidance, without patronage, without someone else looking out for you from a different perspective, you will stall out, stagnate or implode. And because you got there on your own, you have no idea how to ask for help, how to assimilate/integrate it; how much others around you want to see you succeed; you can lose YEARS running down dead ends and/or spinning your wheels when a good mentor could have told you that they've seen all this before and for you to stop wasting your time while you've got productive years left. This has become one of my primary regrets in life - in all of the different things I have done, I became pretty good at several of them and several different occasions, rejected/ignored offers of mentorship because lone wolfing it always worked for me. I can see now that the difference between being merely very good at an endeavor versus being excellent was my arrogance.

Army Special Forces training. The SFOQC Q Course, they didn’t feed us while in the field at Camp Mackall. We ate when we were allowed to hunt and scrounge what berries, roots or tubers we could find. Trapping, skinning, maybe getting to cook the animal, over fire we had to make, was how we ate in the field in the 1970’s. I learned how to do so many things with a knife. I’m 68 now and still carry at least 2 knives on me daily. Never forget, 2 is 1 and 1 is none. You must have a backup blade and light, and as a leader and a trained Army combat diver, I carry backups for the backup.

Track the meals, count down the days( X days and a wake up) , count down the meals( x meals till lights out, x meals and a wake up) . Do whatever you need to do to keep you in the mind set of “it’s temporary”. Worked for me in the Army,

It is good sometime read the lord of the rings and look what side they are. Sauron fall because the evil fall. He needs to listen John Mearsheimer, Chad freeman, Emmanuel Todd and many other advisers. They sell his country. He needs to wake up!

I had to go to court for a civil case the next morning. Felt like my whole life was riding on the next morning. I was facing ruin. I was on the verge of total meltdown lying in bed. I realized that no matter what at noon tomorrow I would be alive and eating lunch. It was like flipping a switch. I went to sleep and the next morning I was merely nervous.

I have never known anyone else who approached specific time this way. Kinda thought I was alone. Worked as a nurse for 30+ years and sometimes the meal idea was what got me through certain days. I totally understand this and still use the principal in my life today.

Dude, im a chef and I do this same exact compartmentalism every day. It works. Take it as it come. Break it down into sections and it’s less horrible. Still horrible but manageable

This is the same method I use to get through my 8-9 hr shifts at work everyday 😂 I break it up every 2 hours and know that after first 2 hrs I take 15 min break, next 2 hrs I go to lunch, two hours later last 15 min break, then….CLOCK OUT!
