I wish I could play this instrument, it is a shame there is no way for me to experience it outside of Japan. It was a very good performance!

Konichiwa sounds great. kakkoii biwa. What type of Biwa is this specifically? I want to buy one and learn.

Thank you very much! This biwa is called a five-stringed five-pillar biwa, which is derived from the Satsuma biwa. Manufactured at the Ishida Loquat store. ishidabiwaten.com/
The Biwa has not only become one of my most favourite Japanese instrument, but one of my favourite instruments period! It’s haunting sound, it’s vibrant tone, and how it sends a chill down my spine makes me lost in its sound. I’m glad more anime such as Demon Slayer and the Heike Tale are showcasing this beautiful instrument which I don’t think is given enough attention as it should. Yes I love the Shamisen, Koto, Shakuhachi, etc but the Biwa has a sound to it that just captivates you. I can see why the ancient Japanese thought it could open its way into the spirit world.
