I had the great privilege of climbing the spiral stairway inside the dome of St. Peter's Basilica to the small gallery at the very peak. The view down into the interior of the church from the highest point possible was amazing. The dome has a narrow space between inner and outer dome. Not open to the public. I was a guest of one of the few people who had access. I'd love to see a video about that.

Take the Pope off and replace it with a statue of Trajan, that's the least you can do to honour the man and his soldiers. Whats it got to do with a Pope?

Thanks to Mussolini in the 30s and all the other public officials in Rome during succeeding decades, who strived and are striving to bring this impressive Ancient Roman monument back to life. What boggles my mind is the enormous amount of time and effort it took over the centuries for people to literally tear beautiful Ancient Roman monuments like this apart. So sad.

at the 9:30 mark i noticed an anchor under the cross. what is the reason for this?
@antofab
@antofab 21 күн бұрын
The anchor is a Christian symbol as the cross, XP monogram, the fish,the lamb etc. etc ..The anchor is a weight that keeps the ship firm and safe and is therefore a symbol of steadfastness and faith. It represents the certainty of faith in Christ. Its connection with the sea evokes other Christological symbols such as that of the fish and recalls the idea of the Church-Ship led by Christ and Peter.

It's disturbing how the quality of sculpture so dramatically deteriorated after the third century. I know art historians like to make excuses about the relativity of aesthetics and that it's not the case, but I'm sorry I think it's obvious something was going very wrong in the empire when emperors start looking like cartoons. It shows how fragile and delicate the culture of art and skill really was.

It is curious that although I'm Italian living about 35 km from Florence I never been to Ravenna but it is my dream to visit this magnificent city and many Germans already retreated to Rimini before it was bombed. Unfortunately Ravenna has been bombed destroying so many historical locations in smoke only because there a station but not much. Thank for sharing this very interesting video 👍👍👍

Love your videos! Speaking of colossal things, can you discuss what romans thought of, and what they did with, dinosaur bones? Are there any bones that have been found at digs sites of temples or villas that are now on display in Rome?

Great video I was there a few weeks ago on a bus tour - stood where you stood in intro didn’t have time to go inside- now I know I must go back. I would love to see it checked by electron microscope to check original colours as some of the Greek monuments have been And then restored to its original colours and glory and Trajans statue put back and restored would be fantastic. Whilst on my tour, one of the highlights for me was to leave a coin on the site where Julius Caesar’s ashes were said to be scattered. Love Italy, people, food, culture and history extraordinary country. Thank you for your video. All the best from down under Lewis Sydney Australia 🇦🇺

How was it now again...? The human being is like a little fly in a temple. The fly symbolizes the atoms and the rest is Spirit.- Something like that. -I really like the rose petal show! I blessed couple persons in a pub with rose petals without knowing this. Many drunk people wanted to be blessed, we had so much FUN! -Thanx Goddess!
