The tribesman says "Help! The god stone speaks!" and "The god, he speaks! Flee, flee from the stone! Run!" The girl cries"Your anger!" Then the tribesman says "Oh musical one, you have returned to us" and "Here are your wives, oh great one".

It's astonishing really--looking back--that this radically experimental song meant to depict an LSD trip was animated in a Saturday morning cartoon for children. What's a six-year old, for example, supposed to make of lyrics such as, "Lay down all thought and surrender to the void"?" You'll notice that they do muffle the sound for the lyric, "That ignorance and haste may mourn the dead." This song, along with Strawberry Fields and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds were cutting edge, culturally transformative compositions that were pivotal developments, not just in pop music. but in Western music at large. That they appeared as the soundtrack for kiddie cartoons really speaks to the immense cultural reach of the Beatles. The sixties were a wild and heady time.

Even though the Beatles hated this cartoon because in later seasons it rejected their psychedelic rock and was over run by yellow submarine this single episode not only showed that imagination has no limits but most importantly somthing that is terrible can be beautiful

I love how they attempted to keep up with The Beatles' progressiveness in their music while desperately trying to keep the "Beatlemania" image in these cartoons. I remember watching these cartoons on Saturday mornings as a kid and realizing how the old images didn't work after a while. Just watch the Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane episodes.

I should have seen these awesome Beatles cartoons when I was a kid some 58 years ago. But it's not too late now that I'm 65. Thank you so very much for showing it now! 🎉😊❤

A hauntingly beautiful song. And the date of the completion of the recording kind of adds to the eeriness: 6/6/66.

The title is incorrect. The song's actual title is "Strawberry Fields Forever." Al Broadax and his animators titled it as "Strawberry Fields." 1:59: The only animated shot of the TV cartoon with John wearing his glasses, which he adopted in 1966 in the movie "How I Won The War." John previously wore glasses, but not in public. Until 1966, John's glasses were Buddy Holly-styled rims. By 1966, John started wearing wired rims, complete with a new mustache for the "Sgt. Pepper" sessions. This look lasted until mid-1967 when John shaved off his mustache. Paul grew a mustache in December 1966 to hide a cut lip he sustained in a moped accident. This led to rumors that Paul was killed in a November 1966 car accident. 2:33: a genuine playground slide from Britain like they made in the 1960's that were nicknamed "Helter Skelters". This is where Paul got the subject matter for his 1968 song with a determination to out-rock The Who after listening to "I Can See For Miles" on the radio one day. It led to massive confusion and false information from madman Charlie Manson. "Helter Skelter" was definitely NOT about a race war. Too bad a cartoon doesn't exist for "Helter Skelter." How would Al Brodax and his animation staff tackle that song's subject matter? They were too busy preparing for the premier of the "Yellow Submarine" movie, anyway. Their chauffer, Big Jim may be a caricature of The Beatles beloved road manager Mal Evans, who met a grisly fate in 1976 with the police that he drunkenly carried a gun pointed at them in self-defense. The results were tragically fatal for Mal Evans.

John wrote Strawberry Fields, then this, which was the first song written for Revolver. What a song to start an extended recording session with!

I have to hand it to Al Brobax and his production company/team. They actually managed to come up with visuals that matched the song while not ‘misunderstanding all they heard’.
