would it be good if we did have a written and codified constitution? if so why?
@julieschmidtlaw
@julieschmidtlaw 5 ай бұрын
That's a really good question! It's a bit loaded politically and depends on your viewpoints. Andrew Butler and Geoffrey Palmer think it would be better to have a codified constitution and wrote a book about it called "Towards Democratic Renewal..." A written constitution is less flexible but rights are more affirmed. So in NZ we can change quickly, which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the current political climate and whether the government is changing the laws in line with your beliefs or not. I would personally prefer a country with a written and codified constitution as I think it would be beneficial for both national identity and also it would more strongly uphold peoples rights in my opinion, so the craziness of the Covid laws wouldn't happen again. But that's just my opinion :) thanks for watching and your insightful question!

Isn't the case of the lads damaging the yacht from Smith v Littlewoods 1987 where it was held that because the Officers had control over the boys, that did not constitute a novus actus?

@@julieschmidtlaw Sorry, I worded it wrong. I know the lads damaging the yacht was Home Office v Dorset Yacht Co 1970. What I meant was, wasn't the idea of imposing a duty on one for the actions of third parties if they had control over the third parties first recognised in Smith v Littlewoods? Or was Smith pertaining to omissions?

Hey just wondering k it’s just the test kits were in NZ in 2017

The only evidence I have I had made a non emergency report. That's documented. That was on 06/05/2023. I got arrested on 06/11/2023. Any advice u can give me would really appreciate. I have no o criminal record this. My first offense. And am going to trail pretty soon. And from what the judge said he wants to give me a year in state prison

I have to say this video is giving me so much hope and reassurance. I am currently at University doing my masters and I’ve been thinking and almost craving a child in my life for years. However socially where I live and in my circle it’s basically shunned and we’re told not to have children at this time because where “just not at that stage of life yet”…. I feel abnormal for wanting a child … But watching this really makes me feel so much better about my own feelings - I totally resonate with all you’ve said. Thank you again for this wonderful upload !

Hi Andy, wow, thank you for this incredibly vulnerable and lovely comment. I am so happy you have resonated with my story and that there are other people out there like me 😊. I always came back to the idea that you can get anywhere in your career at any age, but there’s only one time in life when you can have children. I’ve been a full-time mum for a year now and I am so, so happy. I wish you all the best in the next stages of your journey, both with your masters and your personal life 💗

The rule of law (Due Process of law) should also clearly define scope of office for those in "official" positions of responsibility as a matter of public scrutiny and accountability as well as clearly list consequences for breaches of public trust. I have had many a conversation in regard to rule of law, defining legalese, precedents (case law), and matters of constitutional law, your videos are easy for the layman to follow and understand, I will recommend your course for any upcoming students who have an accelerated interest in law. Thank you for these gems. Peace.
