Hi! I'm using the canon r100, paired with canon efs 55-250mm stm lens throug meike ef- eos r adapter. however, when I adjust the aperture (55mm f4 to f4.5, or 250mm f5.6 to f6.3) it shows an error 1, faulty connection. check connection between lens, mount adapter or camera. hope you can help. I don't have any lens to test.

I'm sorry I don't know. It could be so many different things. The first thing is to make sure all the connect points are clean. So far mine has been fine with any lens I've used. Also, try to take off the lens and the adapter and re-attach it all. Good luck!

Meike Metal Lens Adapter MK-EFTR-A for Canon EF/EF-S Vs MK-EFTR-B for Canon EF/EF-S The MK-EFTR-B lists Image stabilization support. Does that indicate lenses with IS work better with the MK-EFTR-B?

If you like that lens try a Super Takumar 50mm 1.4 and a Zuiko 50mm1.8 these two are must have in your manual collection. You will need adapters for these but are super cheap on ebay.

by adding a adapter are you not altering the distance from the last glass element of the lens to the sensor like adding a extension tube to a system ? if this is correct what is the equiverlant extension tube rating? may be a silly question. thanks
@PaulJakob2 жыл бұрын
It’s not adding any additional space. Its measured to be exact space to a dslr. That’s why the ef lenses adapt perfectly. So, a 24mm lens will be a 24mm lens on the R system camera if it’s a full frame camera.

Great video! As far as adapting lenses, have you heard anything about whether the different types of AF motors in EF glass have effects on whether the lens focuses as well when adapted to the RF cameras? With Canon having had something like 7 different types of AF motors in the EF line, it would be an interesting comparison.
@PaulJakob2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Frederick! That’s a good question. My best encounters with different af motors is I have had some work recently where I used the R5, R6, 1dx2 and 5d4. I mixed it up with all sorts of lenses like ef L with the usm, the Newer usm, the tamron lenses and sigma. All of them worked exactly the same. The only note would be, the cameras more advanced AF had a positive change to how sticky the AF felt. In conclusion, the adapted lenses all worked as well if not better with the new cams even with the adapter. My tests were not in a controlled situation, but in real life high pressure paid shooting situations. Thanks for watching the vid! I have some new stuff coming soon. More adapter talk!

@frederick-DIY2 жыл бұрын
@@PaulJakob You bet! I'm mostly looking at the cheaper third party adapters since I don't use ND filters in my own shooting. I'm in the process of switching over from the EF system (1Ds Mk. II and a 50/1.4), and my initial setup is an RP with the RF 50/1.8. Since the RP is the first camera I've owned that does in-body lens correction though, I'm particularly interested in adapting some of the older EF glass for which the RF system doesn't yet give a size advantage (I shoot almost entirely street photography so having a small and unobtrusive kit is very important).

None at all. I compared my 5d4 with the ef 24-70 2.8 L mk2 then put the same lens on the Eos R with the adapter and the image was exactly the same. The adapter is a simple design. Mainly just adding space between the body and the back glass. Hope this helps.

Hi! Thanks for the feedback! That is totally normal. Because the lens is all manual and has no contacts on the lens connecting it to the camera, it will not record lens data. @PaulJakob3 жыл бұрын
This is a great question. So the sigma 35mm art is a full frame lens. The adapter adapts exactly straight across. So it is 35mm full frame in camera mode and in video it is the same. So the field of view would be very close if not the same as your 6d. Full frame ef adapts to full frame adapted. Now the only time there is a crop on the R6 is in 4k60. Great video! I own the Viltrox one. I am curious if you can do a comparison of 1. how snugglish the 3rd party mounts compared to the original canon one and 2. compare the internal step rings, which from what I can see, Canon's has some irregular inner side thread extinctions, while Viltrox has this uniform inner threads (the inner groves), not sure if they will influence photo optics to any extend.
@PaulJakob3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul! So first point. It’s as tight as the canon adapter. That being said, I find the adapters to be a little loose in general. The internal steps are similar to canon but maybe more even. I noticed no difference in image from the two. Some people have mentioned if they are not spaced correct it creates extra (unwanted) flare. I hope this helps. These adapters are so reliable compared to adapters even just a few years ago!

I got the R just as the pandemic was starting by trading in my GH5 and lenses. An elderly friend who shot Canon decided to pack in photography and just gave me all his L series EF lenses, so I threw in with Canon and never regretted it. I love the body and the easy interface and boy is the image quality awesome. But I've had to try REAL hard to resist the R6 for AF2, but otherwise for photos the differences are negligible (right?). Anyway, I have my eye on the RF 15-35mm which is almost the same price and I can't have both...so,glass it is! 😊 New sub.

Awesome! Congrats on the new setup. It’s always awesome to get some new glass. So, I did a shoot two days ago with the R6. A friend needed to borrow my R and so I did the shoot with the R6 (that I have on loan until next week). So I noticed one big thing. I like the photos out of the R more. Technically the R6 has better specs but I find the R is more like my 5d3 ( my favorite photo cam ever) and my 5d4. The things I liked more are the way the R has very clear and having some more pixels to crop with. It’s all personal preference...but definitely get that 15-35. It’s so amazing. I’m excited to see what happens in a generation or two of the cameras...but going with a pro level lens for the system you are into...huge win. Thanks so much for watching and the sub!
