The golden rule would be great if everyone did it. Some people just never do their dishes or scrub the toilet or clean their hair from the drain or throw out old food and leave their shoes in the path of everyone to trip over. Just clueless, self-centered behavior.

if you have embroidered clothing or clothing with lots of pockets or zippers you should turn them inside out so they won't get beat up in the washing machine and or dryer.

I gravitate towards caring for my plants. I live in a small space, but it helps that I have the greenery around me. It needs my care and attention but if I don't care for it properly, or something out of control happens, it's not totally devastating if it croaks. Rather than if I had a pet to care for, which becomes a daily expense. And plants DO respond to whether they are ignored, have a positive atmosphere, or are treated negatively. So, there's also the satisfaction of them flourishing when you are behaving kindly.
