i just wanna say that even Cinemasins doesn’t consider themselves critics. they openly joke about how Jeremy, the man who does the videos, just nitpicks them for fun and doesn’t actually think he’s a critic.

I am still in awe of how utterly incompetent Halo was written and run. They literally depended on the viewers to have the background lore knowledge to understand what was going on because they couldn't be assed to worldbuild and yet in the same breath say it's not canon and change a bunch of shit just to change it so you can't depend on your lore knowledge to actually understand anything. Not to mention the utter lack of exposition makes it inaccessible to non-fan viewers.

Gordon is an ordinary man with a hazardous environment suits and has optimises skill like if Gordon was in an escape room Gorden would salve it in now time while master chief has Extremely tough training that could proper him as as post-human super soldier originally purposed to help the UNSC in its war against the Insurrectionists who operated from mostly outer human colony worlds and fought for autonomy from the UEG (United Earth Government) and UNSC.

My dad went to the test screening of the Blair witch project they had a piece of the “wall” of the cabin in the movie that they presented as “real” they even had the vhs “tape” with the footage on it. And all of this they presented as really happened. There were people sobbing in the theater Becuase what they thought they saw was real. When my dad came out of the theater he said to his freind this movie is going to do the same thing to the woods jaws did for the water. And the next day the radio said “ a new movie coming out is going to do the same thing to the woods jaws did for the water” my dad suspected that a journalist was listening to him.

Wow. Tim Riggins and Landry Clarke are both in Battleship?? Who directed it, the creator of the TV version of Friday Night Lights?? Nevermind. Don't answer that. Also, I can't be the only person who thinks that the main character in Strange World looks like post-Office John Krasinski, or am I??

If you want to really look at the topic, look at the list of all films nominated for Best Picture and then compare them to the film that won. Even if you spend time with a couple of years, you will start to see that the best picture is often not even close to the best picture. Compare the best film with the best director and best writer, and you start to see that a lot of the winners had better promotion and not a better film. But still, art is subjective.
@unclerat2131Ай бұрын
Alfred Hitchcock said a lot of it - "To make a great film, you need three things - the script, the script, and the script."

Earlier than cutthroat island was “swashbuckler” from 1976. This awful cliche filled movie cost a fortune at the time and brought back in basically nothing. Any lessons learned? From Hollywood? Of course not. Speaking of how something can work in one medium and die in another is “cats”. Cats on stage is a very entertaining. It played in London and broadway for 15 years and touring companies continue to perform it to this day. Two movies have been made of it. Both total disasters. One, in 1998, was filmed on the actual stage set in London, yet still totally failed at every level. The recent cgi version is an insane unpleasant 90 million dollar nightmare.

The Lone Ranger is a pulp character that started as a radio show. He’s pretty cool. And this movie could’ve been a great pulpy adventure.
@unclerat2131Ай бұрын
The Lone Ranger was never epic. It had human dimensions, like homesteaders trying to be moved off their land by a cattle rancher who was not evil but greedy. The Lone Ranger and Tonto would try to be a balance whose main motivation was justice. It was a pulp story told simply to evoke a sense of fairness. It was always a good, simple story.

You should’ve put Speed Racer in this video because that too was a massive box office bomb due to critics at that time were not very kind to the Speed Racer movie and also it was overshadowed by other summer blockbusters of 2008 like Iron Man, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Sex and the City, Kung Fu Panda, The Incredible Hulk, Get Smart, Wall E, Wanted, Hancock, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Dark Knight, Mamma Mia, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, and Tropic Thunder
