I’ve never done that before but it looks like the bowline going through the rig piece ring and tied off helps create a smoother rig? Is that the reason behind using two slings?

Tachyon seems nice I've only held it.its 120 Dollars more than every single rope made .it can't be better than bluemoon. Not many ropes are it handles abrasion best cover.i have talons to .only ones that don't hurt short man's knees. Believe or not forestry pro half inch is 12 strand climb rig line it's Like 7200 rated .after it breaks in swells polyester and is best climb +rig line I've ever used .had this rope 5 years .another 3.wamt to try cheerry bomb 2 it's bigger diameter. Be next rope i try

Does that change anything with how many wraps you take on the porta wrap vs when you’re just negative rigging the piece
@KyleE-pm1nt
@KyleE-pm1nt 11 ай бұрын
It can... in theory, but in my experience it's not likely to change the friction. It just adds more rope in the system to distribute the shock through
@survivalsearcher
@survivalsearcher 10 ай бұрын
@KyleE-pm1nt it adds another friction point, reducing the forces being applied to the ring and the stem, as well

tree was done in 4.5 hrs. My area all the clients are insanely meticulous about their lawn, so rigging everything down is a day in and day out process. Which is annoying at times but I enjoy the process. Upstate CT we get to send everything via airmail but not close to the city 😭 thank you brother man !

I have a Petzl Zillon too. It works but I probably wouldn't buy it again. The ART 2 positioner works well although I don't have a lot of climb time since I don't do trees for a living. As long as I have something which can be let out easily while under load - I'm happy. I also have a Notch positioner on a wire rope cored lanyard but I haven't messed with it much.

Thanks for the gear review. Rope Runner Pro...glad I'm not the only one that bought it and still haven't used it much. I have also been thinking maybe my weight pushes the RR Pro a little too hard so it doesn't work that well. I'm about 225 before gear and I first tried it on either 11.2mm or 11.7mm rope. I can't remember which but I recall having to go to nearly the most extreme setting to get it to hold my weight. It did do that but then it was quite difficult to get it to release. Now this last month I got it out again and started messing with it. This is on 11.7mm Samson Hyperclimb and it easily holds my weight. The rope has seen a little use by now but is in good shape. I still think it is a little hard to release, even when I have the setting so low that I might creep down a little at times. But I think it is manageable. I did try rope walking with a foot loop and not a knee ascender. A few times it wouldn't release and tend with my elastic tether. It also flattens the rope like crazy. I have a modification in mind that I want to try. Maybe it will help get more friction on the lower part of the Rope Runner so there is less on top and it'll be easier to release.

What I've found works best is a 2 gallon Benjamin Moore paint bucket .it's perfect..never tangles. And I put my drunks redbull on top as cup holder In the truck 4 years now works great .dissent fold up but who cares has a handle. I use weaver thick yellow line 150ft and dyna glide and teffekburger. Line ..mostly the weaver because it's thicker..
