Thanks for the info. Do you know there's a procedure for battery preconditioning an Ioniq 6 with ABRP?
@ScottDLR4 күн бұрын
My EV6 came with this but its operation is totally random. It no longer locks in my garage but it locks itself after random time intervals out in public - but it does always lock eventually.

@Macknzie27 күн бұрын
I'm pretty sure the locking is not location based, it's time based unless the fob is inside the vehicle. It will lock 10 seconds after you shut all the doors regardless of whether you've moved away or are right next to the vehicle.

problem with this UI is I can never tell what is playing my music. is it a connected device via android auto? bluetooth device? or from radio? or maybe via usb? makes no sense and there should be a dedicated "now playing" icon to quickly jump to see what music is playing and its source. maybe an easy toggle to switch between audio sources.

I have used ABRP with online data along with Apple Maps navigation. They are not mutually exclusive. One great thing about ABRP is that it shows (in the app) the distance in feet to every eating establishment near the charger. If you plan a meal and a charge together it eliminates any “wasted” time. (Although, you may be interrupted to get up and move the car).

Kia’s updates for the EV6 are useless, absolutely laughable. All we get are more relaxing sounds. There are so many quick fixes they could implement. They don’t take existing customers seriously.

I had a similar experience with ABRP's app. It was really buggy and caused us to miss our exit to the charging session. Various points of interests would blink on the map as we drove along and it was incredibly annoying so I just shut it down. ABRP does a good job of suggesting an initial itinerary but it falls apart when you hit the road.

Key is where you are going in LA (or, if going north, how far north in the Bay Area you are going). This will determine whether and how much of a second stop you must do. I would get ABRP downloaded to your phone, set the car to your trim level of the Ioniq 5, and have it calculate what it believes are the optimum stops. I would say that the Kettleman City EA is one of the most reliable, because it has 10 350kw stalls with relatively new chargers. Worst reliability for me has been EA's Lost Hills. You generally have to do EA in Firebaugh or Bakersfield, all depending upon how much of a deep charge you need to reach your final destination. If you're going to have a reliable charger at your destination, you can obviously run your car down to little buffer.

@ev_kimchi2 ай бұрын
I would plan on stopping at Bakersfield Enos Lane, then Kettleman City, or more north at Harris Ranch or Firebaugh (all of these are EA stops on I-5) -- you'll need 2 stops, and how much charge you would need depends on where in LA and where in Bay Area you are coming / going to

yes my car has this as well -- what I have that you don't is that my doors will auto-lock after I *open* a door, and then shut it and walk away with the FOB with me. I think you are pushing it with that commute a day -- that's easily 80-90 miles with terrain each way. You'll need a charger at your workplace. Why not look at a GT-Line instead? Very zippy still, and much better range that should do that hellish commute without problems

Just NUTS it doesn't have this feature already! My Mazda 3 that was half the price of my GT-Line, that I traded in for had this, if it can sense you walking up it absolutely can detect your waking away, no way I'm doing all this hacking in when it could already be enabled if they wanted to. We need to push Kia for an answer WHY they don't do this! This reminds me of having a car that was only offered with terrible halogen headlights in my country when other countries had nice projector options. These alternative headlights could be ordered fairly cheap but needed some wiring mods to work right. So this guy came up with a complex way to get the out of country headlights working right, huge forum post with instructions, sold the parts at cost for the benefit of the community, etc. Then a guy comes in and says "wait, why are you doing all that? All you have to do is flip these two wires in the harness connector and it does the same thing." Well, dudes elaborate post with instructions was deleted by the next day. I felt sorry for him, but a perfect example of why not to immediately dive in too quickly when a simpler solution will come around, hell, Kia could end up enabling this in an OTA update.

As far as I’m aware the AI box module allows wireless CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Can you run nav data on your phone via CarPlay/AA when connecting through the AI Box w/o it disconnecting factory nav or can you only use nav on the box itself?
@ev_kimchi2 ай бұрын
part of the android auto and carplay spec is to detect if turn-by-turn directions are initiated on either the native or projected phone system, and to stop any already running navigation so drivers do not have two systems giving directions at once. This isn't implemented perfectly well on the Chinese AI boxes, but generally you cannot have two TBT navigations running at once -- one will stop suddenly when the car or phone realizes the other is directing you

Built my own harness... and PCB too. Notes: the trailer hitch connector provides a 'clean' brake light signal (not power) and ground (but ground can be used from the original brake connector). Front two wires are getting 'clean' turn signal lights (US rear brake/turn are combined on one wire). PCB with relays builds a Hazard Actuator (solid, not sequential for hazards as you stated). Front projector lights can also use the same PCB, just need a wire to the headlamps.

Hello, greetings, I have a question, I bought a mach e AWD that was manufactured in 07/2022 but I bought it in 01/2024 and it has been connected to the Wi-Fi for two months and no update has arrived and connected to Wi-Fi 24/7, look for information that if the APIM modules and the GWM are in the list of updates, they are not updated, the updates will not begin to flow, is this true?
@ev_kimchi2 ай бұрын
I sold my pony to the glue factory, but from what I remember you're probably right. the GWM module is the gateway that manages sending the OTAs to the other modules. if it is stuck, nothing else is getting updated I believe. APIM I think is the infotainment as I remember. Try taking it to a dealer and making them fix it if you're still under warranty. I'm sorry, but that car has such crappy quality even when it came to software updates. It's laughable how much crap I had to plug in to my car to try and get fixes for the bad product bugs in the car, looking back on it
