Nice ephemera from cardboard I did not know existed. You are changing my mind about packaging. I was looking at my Nespresso coffee pod holder. What would Penny do, is what I was thinking.

Love those old book pages with pattern printed on them - did you use the pages as ‘plain’ paper in your printer to get that effect?

Yes. I just changed my page size to the closest size for the pages and printed on them as if they were blank paper.

I had been making confetti collages but I did not do the criss-cross the strips which I now see how wonderful it makes the heart shapes. Thank you for making this video and sharing it.

The diagonals really make a difference to the cut outs. Sometimes it’s worth breaking the mould 😁

They're so gorgeous. I was so addicted to making these; I couldn't by stop for days lol. Hehe so funny that you keep those teeny tiny scraps and really thin strips too. Always makes my day when I see you use them lol. As annoying as those tiny scraps are, I think the challenge of trying to use them up is the best fun! lol 😄😂🩵💚

I made 4 mini journals purely from scraps… I’m going to try to make pockets and tags for them from my phone book pages and sheets of kooky paper. I can’t wait to see what you make from yours.

Turkey!?!! You lucky duck! That is one country I really want to visit. I’d love to hear about your trip. I was very lucky enough to spend 3 weeks in Japan, traveling the country, “island hopping,” with my Japanese professor and several other students in the program. It is by far one of my most treasured experiences, seeing so many of the places I had spent so much time studying and learning about. Safe travels!

I love Japan. I was there for Christmas last year. This year I decided to travel to Turkey as it’s always been on my list of places I’d love to see. I will try to share as much as I can here so you can live a little vicariously 😁.

Yes. They are easy to make. Not heavy or cumbersome to carry and I am happy to give them away to anyone showing me a kindness while I am travelling. I’ve also (in the past) painted tiny 5/5cm canvases and given those to people, but now journals are my thing so this is more appropriate to me.

I’m headed on a trip in mid September too.. back to Chicago…we are having a memorial service for my mom (just for those who couldn’t attend the funeral). I think I will make some tiny journals to take as gifts as well. What a great idea!

They are quick and easy to make and I really prefer to give hand made gifts as thank you gifts when possible. Journals is what I do so I thought ‘why not?’ 😁

'Her' ? I've always found it really odd to assign a gender to a journal 😂

All my journals are ‘her’ or ‘she’s when I refer to them. I think it’s because I spend so much time with them that it becomes uncomfortable to refer to them as ‘it’. They are more like people I know to me in the end. It’s not really about giving them a gender, it’s about being fond of them and accepting that to me they have personality. Probably the same reason I name them all.

I like how you used the booklet of grumpy white men pics to fit the theme of the book...people interviewed. Thank you for showing how I can tailor a junk journal to something fun. Thank you for sharing. I also like that you name your journals.

They all need names 😁 by the time I’m done making them they almost feel like someone I know. Theming a journal is sometimes challenging but always fun.

Love the oddities in this one. It gave some interesting ideas for 2 Nostradamus books I have. I have not made a themed journal yet. Mine have all been very eclectic so far.

I find eclectic journals much easier. Themes take a lot of time and searching for or making particular pieces. That said, they are very rewarding when they come together finally. You should absolutely go for it!
