Nice to see that you showed us the failed ones. I've done a castings and they are not as easy as every other yt video out there.

This is the epoxy resin you need : IB2 epoxy infusion resin We use this to infuse glass and carbon fiber in PU/Epxy molds. It flows REALLY well and the cure product has very good mechanical caracteristics. It lacks of elongation at break, but it is still very good for silicone molds. You will have litle to no flash, it is odorless, and it is absolutely clear so the tinting process is very easy. I made motorcycle brake lights replicas with this resin, it was perfect.

In your thumbnail youre holding mirrored negative part of the original. But in the video youre making a mold for the copy of the original. Could you teach us how to mirror mold parts if I need positive and negative copies of two sides of parts, like car moldings and such?

Thank you! This is what I've been wanting. I have not found a rig like this where the object stays still while you move the camera around the object. I'm going to need to rig something like this. It's time to channel my inner MacGyver.

I can’t believe that flange held the weight of that big block of rubber in the middle and didnt allow it to sag and make the floor of the cast box thinner…but it seems you pulled it off. I would have over-thunk it and tried to reinforce that part of the mold. I really appreciate the self locking parting line I just learned from you, thank you. That concept is something I have done by accident before, but now I will use it strategically. I already swore off the acorn nuts years ago in favor of a sculpted trench around the whole part which prevents resin from leaking out of a poorly clamped mold… Anyhow great video, thanks!!!

Urethane offgasses Cyanide ! Use a respirator, gloves and small workstation fan (for ANY resin, or solvents and sanding dust )... Most people get sensitive, over time, then suddenly get extreme reactions to exposure (copd, rashes) ! Watch your ass, no joke ! ~nice video, well done ~subd

Great video. Straight to the point and very informative. I am looking to make a mold of a cup/goblet that I 3D printed. The part is about 2'6'' tall. How would I go about making a mold for it so I can make replicas with cement?

You know what this rig would also be awesome for, you have enough vaccume capacity to pull 4x8 sheets of plastic in a vaccume former or to do pressure forming. You can 3D print the molds in ABS and make a sheet oven by salvaging som electric oven elements.

You mentioned a drip hammer to apply drops of resin? I search for it and can’t find any reference to drop hammer or drip hammer. What else could they be called and where do you get them?
@EricStrebel24 күн бұрын
You’ll need to get a stick and make one, then you can drip resin off the end of the stick, eventually it turns into something that resembles a hammer
