Barry Bonds did literally everything Babe Ruth did aside from pitching better than Babe Ruth did and i honestly am not tremendously impressed with his pitching accolades in baseballs infancy and the deadball era. that being said Barry Bonds did things Babe couldnt hope to do. 50 Hrs and 30 stolen bags, golden gloves, etcetra. this man hit 73 fuckin homeruns in one season and no, there is no evidence that he used steroids. yet, even if he did, bro baseball players freely juiced for about 40 or 50 years. take this excerpt from a conversation i had about roger maris and sosa/mark mcgwire and etc : i think people are insane when they act like maris was the kind of guy to hit 50 plus homeruns in any given seasons and that he cranked 60 plus without juicing in this season. that's just absurd. don't get me wrong maris was a good hitter, but he doesn't even belong in a conversation with someone like mickey mantle and surely not babe ruth. the evidence that maris was on steroids in this season is absolutely fucking overwhelming. maris is not a hall of famer he had 2 or 3 good - not great - season. aside from this season where he went yard 61 times, he never hit over 40 homeruns in any season for his entire career. that being said i dont feel that sammy sosa or mark mcgwire scream "hall of fame", sosa is probably more deserving given that he was a good fielder but a bit inconsistent at times but he stole 200+ bases,his batting average was 10 points higher than mcgwires for his career, sosa hit 60 homeruns either 3 or 4 times, definitely at least 3 though, and he had hundreds of more runs and rbis in his career and mark mcgwire was a liability at the worst when it came to his glove and fielding and his arm, or just a non presence at best. i wish all baseball fans would look at the evidence and the truth about all of this and steroids and stop talking like barry bonds isnt the greatest hitter and probably the greatest baseball player to ever live, although that kid that plays for anahiem rn that pitches and bats lights out is definitely in that conversation. the thing is.. barry bonds never tested positive for steroids, there is absolutely zero proof that he used them, and even if he did i promise that baseball players freely juiced up for about 40 or 50 years and i think right here and now is the cleanest era as far as that goes. i say all that to say i love the vibes and the culture of these olden times and sports back in the 60s in general but especially baseball. however, anyone who thinks that babe ruth, mickey mantle or any of these dudes could hold a candle to the generational athletes we have today is absolutely delusional.
