Free speech pertains to the GOVERNMENT, not private companies. Especially a social media advertising company like Twitter. The reason they had those strict rules, was to create a safe space for the ADVERTISERS, not the users. Advertisers don't want their ad next to racist, sexist, or bigoted comments for fear their product or company would be linked to it.
