They put almost everything into the models and animations, then left the rest to pocket lint and a bus token tbh. As I mentioned, it's just another case of tons of potential, but not capitalized on properly (imo).

Nier had a lot going for it narratively from the start compared to AC6. In my opinion having to beat the game to even start seeing a coherent story isn't great.

@@Xantbos There's a quite coherent story in AC6 from the get go. Either ending results in a complete story with some questions left hanging. Completing the other results in an even bigger picture, and completing the 3rd results in the whole story. Just like with Nier.

@@MasterMordekaiser I think we have two very different ideas of what constitutes a good story, Crash. When I made examples to Persona and RDR2, I was using them as a base for a reason. Perhaps not _literary masterpieces_ when it comes to storytelling for one reason or another, but they both portray a story you can follow with ease, and in the case of Persona you get more out of a replay/ng+ as you will notice things you missed previously which sheds a new light on certain aspects. But when the story goes "You fight Carla after she weakly baited you into a trap. You beat Carla, her machine explodes. She is now your ally and helping you dismantle what she used to be a part of." feels very disjointed. Sure, one example, but it's the vibe of most of the narrative that I've seen up to chapter 4.

That's not what happened though at all. You entered her area, she tried to take you out, she finds out you're connected to Walter, she works with Walter and the corps to take down the Ice Worm. She then works with you and Walter to stop the Coral Convergence because that was their entire goal. This is outlined in dialogs and logs. It's further explained through NG+ content. I'm going to be fully honest, but every time I've read a complaint about the plot not making sense or being weak, it's because a voice line was skipped or logs weren't read. Just like Nier, you have to actually pay attention to all the logs and such.

There was a base story, and the logs _added_ to the story. You had all the foundational expectations of a story in Nier. Comparing the two is interesting, considering the only similarity narratively is "logs around the world" and "multiple endings". One could, using the same comparison intent, say Goosebumps and The Shining are equivalent because they're both books with bindings that tell a tale of suspenseful horror. But we wouldn't even dream of it since they are wildly different in quality. You haven't even directly compared Nier's story to AC6, just the aspect of logs and endings, which pretty much proves my point as stated. The writing is what it is and while it might improve after consuming every single log and beating the game multiple times, *other games* have done this method better while still allowing both casual players and completionists/scourers to enjoy the tale equally.

Going to assume so, you'll just need to wait 2 years or so for FGONA to catch up to JP.

If you don't mind grinding battlepass daily/weekly missions, it's straight forward but limited as a f2p since battlepass rewards are very limited without buying it.

the game is fun, just not very rewarding to play imo. Most people end up just playing overwatch, even though I think both games play very differently despite being similar in ideas.

@@hirotrum6810 It already has really, the player base has imploded and there is basically no one outside Japan playing it anymore, who knows how much longer that will linger on a few more months maybe. It actually got good hype and exposure when it launched but gating characters behind huge paywalls or massive grind basically just killed ALL of that. Once people hit that wall and saw how unreasonable it was they just stopped playing. You just can't have a game like this where stuff like counter-picking and team-comps are critical and then have the characters you might need locked behind time gates and extremely high paywalls or a grind no one with a life is going to be willing to do. It will NOT survive, but at this point it's too late anyway, even if they unfucked it people aren't going to come back. So the objective now is probably to bilk as much as they can from the few whales left before it dies in the near the future, so they have no motive to change now.

@@ArchSight I have concerns over this game being shut down , it takes minutes for me to find a match so most of the time I don’t even bother playing .. already purchased 2 units & don’t want to spend another $10 on this unit , they need to change ways to unlock units

We were all on the PC client for this, and it supports gamepad. I have a rather shaky hand so whenever I play a shooter I pretty much have to use a controller of some fashion.

@@Saviorstash if you're still on m1, there won't be a huge instant upgrade in dark for you unfortunately. All the top picks (lich, fediel, summer magisa, bowman) all scale from skill damage which is through agonize (magna anima-animus drop), pain and suffering (EX lich weapon), and skeletal eclipse (primal fediel weapon). Not to say you won't get some oomph from them, but it potentially won't be as pronounced as other elements. Long term dark would be either lich or fediel picks, since them being phased out of general meta won't be any time soon. And working on 2 pain and suffering + 2 agonize will be major damage output improvements for a magna grid. However it should be mentioned that if you're talking about your anniversary ticket and not the discount spark select, aim for a seasonal unit (halloween, valentines, etc) as those are on rateup much less often than grands and typically much harder to obtain in general.

And higher damage output. Much more glass cannon

The thing is, there are good and bad non-bindable EX skills. The bad ones I consider 'whiffable' where the animation itself is either bad at making contact or keeping the enemy locked into it, while the good ones either have a gapcloser into a soft bindable or have a minimal (if any) chance of missing.
