Hi, Cody. What's the purpose of the screw undreneath the trigger guard? Would it help to use a electric wire heater in the foam layers you use to press the holster? With a thermocouple to indicate the temperature near the leather. And leave it like that untill the leather self-forms around the gun. And finally, which chemical do you recomend to seal everything once it's all done? Thanks

Dude, no way, you HAVE to buff the oil dyes. That’s the point, you’ll get a totally different look.
@doubleccustomleather2623 Жыл бұрын
Not in my experience. I can buff for an hour and no transfer or change in color, feel or texture. Maybe you dye with a different method or amount of coats? Who knows but it works for me and gets good results.
@oakridgereview1359 Жыл бұрын
I totally agree. I always use a 50/50 water and Resolene mix to finish and buff the top. That’s my process and experience

I'd definitely dye better in the belt loops then burnish and stitch around them. It looks like they're separating. Then wet mold them to a couple1 1\2 inch layers of veg. Makes it look so much better. Check out Adams leather work. Nice holster though.

Never had one separate and come back to the shop ever. They are also dyed and burnished.

@@TrebleForTheBass grammar would imply that the mis pronunciation was written not spoken. I would figure someone claiming to be a grammar Nazi would know better. Also if you have nothing better to do but cruise YT all day making useless comments about so called pronunciation errors you must live a sad life my friend. Words are pronounced differently all over the world pending on culture, up bringing, accent, and a host of other reasonings. Fiebings turned my black car seats brown....DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT
@doubleccustomleather26232 жыл бұрын
Anywhere in this video do I recommend trying to dye the seats of vehicles with this dye? This is more geared towards veg tanned leather which I can almost assure you is not the same tanning process your car seats went through. If that is the seats in your Kia are even real leather at all. Should have done more research and maybe you wouldn’t have F’ed up your vehicle. Don’t try to dissuade others from a good product because of your idiotic decision.

Quick question. If you were to take something like an ammo can that won’t expand, put your gun and holster in a ziploc, sealed and evacuated all air, and placed it in the ammo can after the initial soak. At that point, take a can of expanding foam and spray all around bag with gun and then sealed the can off so that the foam presses tightly around holster and gun, would that provide ample detail for the wet mold?
@doubleccustomleather26232 жыл бұрын
Honestly I have no idea and I don’t believe I’ve ever heard of it even being thought about that way. I suppose it would but then you would have to cut all the foam off, ruin a good ammo can and foam isn’t cheap either. I’d say if a wood and foam clamp press is out of the question for you just wet mold it from start to finish without a pressing step. I made holsters like that for years before I built a press

I just found this clip, and I am glad I did. This helped me a lot with dyeing. I paint art and just couldn't figure out how to dye two or three tone on my leather without using acrylic paint, which I don't won't to do. Now I will experiment with dyes, because I'm making a phone case and want mine to be totally different with color. Thanks again.

I like using the handle of a butter knife myself. Anyways, that molder you have there would work way better if you used a 2 inch thick piece of gel pad like you add to a motorcycle seat directly against the holster, then shim it up to the wood backboards with foam rubber to make it tighter, then use a big c clamp and a piece of steel plate on the top and bottom of the outside of the wood directly over and under the holster and tighten the c clamp till you can't turn in anymore and leave it till tomorrow and when you take it out you'll be able to see every single detail of the pistol without having to hand mold it at all.
