This stuff used to be stored in the middle of Christchurch on Victoria Street. If people expect medical care that includes treatments and imaging that creates radioactive waste like X-rays, then it has to be stored somewhere. It’s pretty much nowhere compared to shaky post quake Central City Christchurch. That stuff has only been moved in the last year. I appreciate that transparency is a major issue. But to be fair, when she asked she was given all the answers. And to make a public thing about it before it went up would just invite kneejerk hostile complaints from the ignorant. Being on Defence land means this should be better protected.
